Glove Box Rattle...this one is different...

Ok, now that I fixed my passeneger side dash rattle I noticed that I have a "glove box rattle" and it seems to be coming from the latch or top lip of the door. If i lightly tap it I can reproduce it. Anybody else have this and if so, how did you fix it?

I used a bunch of that too when I fixed my rattling issue, but I got it from one of the Toyota techs... So I don't know where you'd get it.

But the Toyota guy told me it's one of the greatest things to keep laying around...

How is your Tacoma? I'd check under warranty, because my 09 had the glove box piston come off and cause a rattle, since it's still under warranty, I'm getting it replaced on my next oil change. I'm also going to attempt to get my TSB for the rear shocks done. Try your dealer again...

the truck is 2 weeks old. It's not the damper. The noise is being generated by the door lip or latch or both. It's relatively minor but still ian irretant that should not be there on a 27000 dollar 2wd truck. I will fix it myself

I'm glad you could read what I meant, how is your Tacoma? Yeah I did mean how old. Well, I had a "rattle" in my dash where it was driving me crazy! I took it in and the service manager helped me out because the first guy couldn't "hear" it. So I took the service manager for a drive, found out it was actually the alarm wiring harness was not attached properly and they ended up putting more of the foam tape to fix the problem. I'm going in to get my damper replaced, I believe I'll be getting a new dash piece because it's clearly not going to hold the damper. I figure get the dealer to fix it, sounds like a simple fix but if you end up breaking something else, it's not worth it. Plus, I paid $27k too and I want a brand new truck to work like a brand new truck!

I am going to go to an Ace Hardware and get this....

http://www.acehardware.com/product/i...Id=35169403293

And I think some of you are misunderstanding...this is not the rattle BEHIND the glove box (that one I fixed) ...its a rattle from the front where the door meets the dash.

Lifesaflaw123 is this what you fixed?

I will pick up the tape this weekend and give it whirl. I think some of this is caused by the cold but it is still no excuse.

I took the black plastic off that's above the glove box and put strips of that double sided 3m foam tape on it where it made contact with the dash. Then I put some foam tabs on the giant wire bundle in there so it wouldn't tap on metal.

Got it, sorry bout that, now I'm on board, much like the foam that you'd put around household doors to insulate. So I'd also recommend home depot or lowes, look in the hardware section. Good luck!
