I bought a 2011 Tacoma SR5, 4L , auto with Leer cap in August. I expected the gas mileage to be close to my Altima taking the difference in weight, engine size and trans into consideration but not so. I am getting on average 10.something lp100k (28 mpg Canadian) highway driving 105 kmh usually :)-)). I thought this was very bad when I anticipated lp100k of 8.7 as per the brochures. But looking at other posts this may not be so bad. Any comments?

I have an 09 with a manual transmission and the best my truck will get is 13.5L/100KM. It's usually more like 14.5L/100KM.

the best i do at highway at about 115 km/h is 24-25 mpg or approx 11L/100km

all city driving i'll be lucky to get 20 mpg and with winter etc. it's not that great, considering i have 240 lbs of sand socks in the back

    it's a truck

Considering that I have never had the truck in 4WD (soon to change with snow on the way) and generally drive like an old lady, I am very dissappointed. Otherwise I love the truck but expected a lot better gas mileage than what I show on Fuelly.com, considering what I sacrificed in room and features trading in my 2008 F150 Supercrew 4x4. These next couple years will determine whether I trade for another Toyota or go back to Ford.

So far I've been averaging in the 20's. Can't really complain about it, it is a truck.

Good luck. FWIW, I can't imagine you will be able to approach an Altima efficiency with a Pick-up truck from any vendor.

Correction on the estimated 10 l/100km (28 mpg). After I posted the thread, I did the calculation electronically rather than in my head (should never do that). Turns out the best mpg to date is 24. Worst was 21. More in line with the comments. And thanks for the comments. Most appreciated.

2012 Double cab PreRunner auto V6, averaging 21 mpg city driving. Seems like you should be getting at least 15 mpg. 10 mpg is worse than my old lifted F150.

I'm averaging 18.7 with my 13' DCLB auto V6. I drive 80 miles/day in and out of speed zones and villages with mostly 55mph state roads. I don't pound it but I don't drive like a grandma either. I'm usually 65-70 and don't hammer the gas when accelerating. Having my truck has slowed me down a lot...
