Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Original factory parts are always better than anything bought at parts stores, they last longer, and are just better as a whole it seems like.

Too many to list, and I've probably forgotten a bunch.
Yeah, when I saw the quality of the OE Toyota filter, compared to the Toyota filters at the local dealership, I ordered a case of the "new truck" OE version. Used the crappy Toyota "dealer" filter on my first oil change, then switched to the good ones on my next ('12 DCSB).

Apparently the Supra guys swear by them.

Had as swapped turbo Lexus (same motor as supras)a few years back an did oil changes every 3k or so. Factory filters are the only thing I ever put on that motor.

Absolutely! And FOX2.0's are crap compared to the stock Tokico shocks and nothing will ever compete with those factory tires!

Yes, the factory filters are nice and suprisingly well priced

Wait, so I'm confused. The Toyota oil filter that comes on a new Tacoma is different from the Toyota oil filter I buy from the parts counter at my dealer for $5?

Toyota factory is superior to any of the aftermarket filters. There is a user here who purchased each filter available Tacoma, cut each one open and dissected on video to show the inside components and size of filtering media. For some, he actually stretched the filtering media to show the surface area of filtering you get. As always, avoid FRAM filters, no matter how convienent it is to buy at Walmart at the same time while your buying your oil.

I believe the only one he left out was the TRD version of the oil filter, which I wouldn't be surprised to see it identical to the standard filter. Toyota OEM is best way to go and oddly the cheapest.

So which Toyota filter did Chris4x4 disect in his thread - the one that comes with a new truck or the one the Toyota parts department sells you when you walk into the dealership? Also, what are their associated part #s, and how/where do you buy the filter that comes on a new truck (if it's in fact better than the traditional Toyota filter sold in the parts dept.)?

I don't believe the filter that comes on a Tacoma from the factory is available for sale. and I don't know the part number...I threw mine away when I did my 1st oil change.

the OEM filter for the 6cyl is 90915-YZZD3. most call it the YZZD3 filter.

Not sure the factory filter is "better" than the YZZD3. I think it has different internals for break in of the motor.
