I agree fully. This post is not intended to compare the 2 trucks at all. I have a Tacoma and really like it, but I want a F150 instead. Both great trucks.

I was considering a EB F150 so I am not a Tacoma nuthugger. I've spent many hours looking up this particulat problem and if you haven't then I don't know what to tell you. Of the trucks it affects, its not a minor issue.
The fix Ford has is a reprogram and a deflector to make the intercooler LESS effective. Nice band aid job. How they've handled it isn't ecactly inspiring either.
So before you pop off about how cool the truck is, look it up. Not meant as a thread hijack but I would want to know about it before I spent 50+k on a truck.

I traded my Tacoma for a F150 and love it. And don't regret it one bit. I got a 2010 V8 5.4. Truck has tons more room and so much nicer. Make the trade and don't look back.

I did look it up and it seems to be a problem for those that it affects... when driving for long distances out of boost and condensation builds in the radiator. The issue is being experienced by a small number of vehicles and if it was widespread there would likely be a recall on it. Not to say that it should be ignored but the number of affected vehicles is very small and there's no real way to assure that these vehicles were bone stock either.

If anyone is "popping off" here it's you. If this is something that you feel is a widespread issue and one that might affect you, then I recommend you take your money elsewhere. Go buy a Dodge truck and have fun with the front end after a few years  You have said your piece and raised awareness to a documented issue, and I commend you for that.

Every vehicle will have some issues. Obviously not all vehicles will be effected. I'm sure they'll get it straightened out the F150 is their bread and butter vehicle I can't see them just keeping a band aid fix for future new trucks. And it's not like the EB is a brand new motor it's been around a couple years has those problems affected other EB vehicles?

I only know 2 people with EB F150's. No problems with those though.

I also work for ford in the parts department and deal with all of the r/o warrenty stuff and haven't seen any problems with the Eco boost. They are very nice trucks and considered one when I was getting my tacoma. Congrats on it you'll be very pleased with it.

I've refrained from posting in this thread until now...

I traded my 2011 F150 XLT with the 5.0 for my 2012 Tacoma.

They're both great vehicles, but other than having 4WD and a box on the back, they're both completely different. Each has strengths and weaknesses.

It would be really awesome if I could get something that was the perfect combination of the two! The Forcoma TRD150 :p

I just got a 2013 TRD Sport, but the Ford F150 is so nice, and ecoboost engine is insane, already turbo kits making that engine crazy. It's the best resale in the full size class. Holds its value well.

Ford gives crap for trade ins, and financing options tho. So you end up paying more and cost of ownership is definitely higher.

If 3rd gen Tacoma isn't mind blowing I will probably move on to the Ford.

First off congrats on the new truck ! I really like the FX4 package as well, and that would be the one that I would go with if I was to get a Ford. As far as the condensation issue...well my boss has an XLT XTR short box Super Crew 4x4 and has not had an issue...and does alot of miles visiting different const. sites. I've read a few threads on F150 online and forums on the problems and the owners are'nt too happy.,,always given the run around at the dealer telling them "no fault found or we can't duplicate the problem". Tell that to a guy whose stuck in the middle of the desert with his wife and two young kids. good luck with the new truck.

I got rid of my F150 5.4L for my Tacoma, but i would definitely buy another. I had it for about 8 years with no major problems or leaks. I wanted a newer truck that would fit in the garage, and i always liked Tacomas. You'll enjoy the F150.
