Well, I got her back today. They replaced the rear springs and added the steering dampner. They had already added the transmission mount.

No vibrations while accelerating, but I do have a vibration from 30-25 while braking and a little vibration when cruising at 58-62. Will see how things go... don't know if it will bother me.

At least I got it back... after 3 1/2 weeks

Went ahead and did the TSB. I was a bit hesitant seeing mixed results. They did the leaf pack, steering wheel dampener and one other thing (its on my paperwork) so far so good. No more vibration and it feels a lot smoother than it did. Still driving it around and will report back after more than one days use.

What's the actual difference between firm ride and standard ride? Would the firm ride be less prone to sagging and have better load capacity?

Further to the question above, I'm going to be contacting my dealer regarding this TSB.

What else should I have them look at on my 2013 while it's there?

    Tranny Fluid Level for example?

    Anything else?

    Cheers,

    Jay

    firm ride = 3+1 leaf pack, standard = 2+1

DONT ACCEPT ANYTHING other than the 3+1 leafpack.

    Gotcha, thanks!

My 2013 already has the 3+1. I wonder how I would find out if it's already got the updated TSB springs or not?

do you have a TRD SPORT or SR5 with the tow package? if so your truck came default with the 3+1 leaf packs.

Ya, it's a TRD sport with tow package and came default with 3+1. Just don't know if they actually changed anything on the 3+1 springs since 2013 or if I already have the latest?

Not trying to be a smart ass, but how do you know? What is the difference?

I just wanted to check-in, got my tsb done a few months ago and everything is fine, still no vibes.

Wondering if anyone has leveled the truck since getting the new leafs? Doesn't matter how, but if you did can you state what equipment you used? The rake on my truck is starting to itch me towards leveling and would be curious about others' experiences.

Not exactly sure what the main difference is. Obviously different part numbers, looks like the overload leaf is a little different and the different degree shims on the bottom of the leaf pack.

It looks like the 2 leafs below the main one are a bit longer than the originals, but the main difference is that the overload spring is flatter. The overload on my originals was really negatively arced and allowed the axle to wrap more.

Got the TSB done on my `13 TRD Off Road Taco and noticed vibration at about 35 mph down to a dead stop. Dealer had it for a week, swapped out driveshaft, rechecked installation on TSB and swapped out a set of tires from another truck on the lot. They road force balanced all my tires and found they could not balance them out. Tires out of round they say. Dealer working with BF Goodrich and Toyota to warranty me a new set of tires. Still not convinced that`s the problem but if the dealer is willing work towards new tires I say go for it and see if that works. If not back to the drawing board! Pisses me off. I have had GM trucks all my life until this Taco. Constantly back to the GM dealer with various issue. Guess Toyota is no different.

I have 81,000 miles on my 2005 AC 4-cyl., manual Pre-Runner and it is great; Aside from the leafspring TSB done in 2009, the only other services have been oil changes and replacing the airfilter a few times..... great truck with zero issues.
So far the same with my 2012, but I only have about 7,000 miles on that one (I still drive the 05 mostly).

If the prob. disappeared with the tire swap, why wouldn't tires be the cause? It would have been nice to drive it with the tire swap though....

Just dropped off my 2012 at the dealership for the vibe. I drove with a service rep and he agrees with the issue so hopefully it will get fixed.

I went to Kelowna Toyota on Saturday to book an appointment for my vibrations on takeoff as well as cruising around 75km/h.

The lady's attitude at the service desk totally rubbed me the wrong way. Everything she said basically made me feel like I was arguing with her.

First asked if I was lifted. I said yes, with the OEM TRD Baja. She asked who installed it and I said a different shop, she said you may have to return the truck to stock before they will look at the vibration. I mentioned a new TSB that came out in Feb and she said that was for the US and doesn't apply to Canada! Anyway, it went on from there but needless to say, I wasn't impressed with her negative attitude!

I was going to install my Wheeler's AAL's this weekend, but decided to wait until after it gets looked at.

My appointment is booked for June 13th so we'll see what happens.

    Cheers,

    Jay

Just got off the phone with the dealership and the service rep told me to hold off on the TSB because of a conversation he had with Toyota. I was told Toyota is in working on a "fix" since the current TSB is not a cure to the problem. If I don't hear anything in the next 6 months, I'm getting the TSB done. Time for me to eat an EAD Sandwich... :playball:

I did a 2.5" OME lift with progressive 3 pack AAL after the TSB. Without the CB drop kit, I had a slight shudder from 25-30mph (only could notice on slight acceleration or deceleration). Once I put in the drop kit, I only notice the slight shudder from 25-27mph. Could probably add a washer or two and try it out but doesn't bother me enough right now to try.
