Running E70 Gas in 2005 Tacomo V6 Five Speed Automatic

I am getting less gas mileage but significantly more horsepower. I like the way it accelerates with E70 in the tank.

Other benefits include a cooler and cleaner running engine. This means the engine should last much longer than if I ran it with regular gas.

 

I thought the more ethanol the more corrosive...

 

I can't speak about the 2005, but there must be some reason that Toyota doesn't want me to run more Ethanol than E10 in my 2012.

BTW, my 2011 F150 5 liter loved the Ethanol. Lots more HP but less MPG. It was designed for it too though.

 

Its pretty harsh on a lot of o rings and seals, even if they were built for it. Ethanol also absorbs water instead of displacing it. This means that even just sitting in your tank the fuel is absorbing water out of the air. I like 100% gasoline with some good detergents.

But whatever floats your boat man. More power, More fun!

 

Also this tacomo you speak of sounds pretty cool. haha. Maybe a mod will fix that for you.

 

It might be that the TRD Off Road package has a stronger built engine?

200 proof ethanol will absorb water from the atmosphere and become 195 proof ethanol. The refineries produce 200 proof ethanol and then (before the water is absorbed) blend with 15 percent regular gasoline. Once ethanol and regular gas are blended, any water that enters the mix will not separate out into an individual layer; the gas station ethanol blend stays homogeneous in your tank while waiting to be burned by the engine.

Be careful if you decide to switch to E45 - E70 by first transitioning to more ethanol gradually to allow the fuel system of your vehicle to slowly clean itself; too quick a transition will result in a clogged fuel system.

All 2005+ V6 engines are the same, there's no difference between the sr5/sport/off road

 

I don't care for ethanol, I will use it in my truck when I can't get regular gas, but I always try to run real petrol in my engine. Before the Tacoma when my 78 Ford Bronco was my daily drive, I filled it up with a tank of ethanol mixed gas because the station I normally got gas at for it was out. Long story short, I had water squirting out of both exhaust pipes and the engine was running like shit. I was so pissed I didn't keep the receipt for that and get my money back, needless to say, the people at Town Pump heard all about it. Probably shortened the life of my engine I bet.

 

I wonder when that engine is going to have issues

 

I started using E45 when I had 170,000 miles about eight months ago. Then I learned (by experience) that it would handle E70 without triggering a check engine light. For the last three months I have been burning E70 and I now have 195,000 miles.

 

It is not a flex fuel engine so it should not be running ethanol. Not much else to say about that.

Engine seal kit in your future.

 

I hope u have a tune to run that ethanol.
The stock ecu can not run that.

I hope u have x1, or a stand alone running that ethanol.

My proefi ems is equiped to.run e85. But dont have my flexfuel sensor installed to.run e85.
Once I run e85 with my turbo ill gain a good amount of power vs pump gas.

And theres is no gain for u if u dont have a tune to run it and can harm ur motor.
Ur just wasting money and mpg vs pump gas.

 

Good luck with your choice of craptastic fuel, there's a reason almost every manufacturer voids warranties from damage caused by the crap, as well as AAA recommending that you avoid it.

 

No. It doesn't mean that at all. Post back when it all starts to fall apart and leak due to the E70 gas.

 

Ur asking for a recipe to blow up ur motor.
Just stay away from e85 unless u have a tune to run it.
