i had my headlights replaced at about 80,000.the lenses cracked in front of the DRL's.they gave me a little crap even though i had the platinum service plan.cost me a 50 dollar deductable.mention safety issues and a recall, and you'll probably be ok.

Lucky for me mine were replaced under warranty, and no problems since. But Toyota did not inform me of the issue, the forums did. I believe there is a TSB for the problem, but most do not know what a TSB is! I think Toyota should replace these lenses regardless of the warranty period expiration.

'09 Dbl cab, TRD suspension plus 2" lift, LEDS, FJ TRD rims. All around pretty mild.
I called Toyota corporate and filed a complaint just to get it on the record.
(They offered to pay half, pffft.) 800-331-4331

Also filed w/ the DOT here: https://www.oig.dot.gov/dot-oig-hotline-complaint-form

    And another here: https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/ (Safecar.gov)

I would recommend that you fill out the DOT forms and explain that this is a safety issue and not just a cosmetic one.

    Here was my comment:

"Daytime Running Lights are too hot causing the plastic lenses to crack, melt, and burn.
Toyota is treating this as purely cosmetic in T-SB # 0129-11 (for 6 model years they were aware of it).
This listing should be changed to a safety recall, that amount of heat could start a vehicle fire."

This shows how clueless I am.. I have a 2009 TRD Sport LB and have noticed many many other Tacomas on the road have what I calll "the blinker lights" lit up and I liked the way it looked.

My truck does not have this feature and I wanted to try to get these to light up while I drive but no such luck.

How can some 2009 trucks have DRL and some not? I do not have DRL setting on the "light stock" adjacent to steering wheel.
