This is something I've been wanting to do for a long time but never had the time, nor the balls to permanently affix something to my brand new truck.

Ended up going with the Maxpedition Universal CCW Holster and some Industrial Strength Hook & Loop Velcro.

After deciding on the placement and the stuff to get, it was simple.

I primarily carry my Sig P229 with me so I ended up mounting it based off of that - even though this position, because of the velcro, would work for almost any gun.

After sitting in the truck and practicing drawing from a few different locations, I decided almost all the way forward was going to be best. Too far forward and the hammer hit the bottom of the lid when I closed it.

Here's what I ended up with.

This obviously will not be used for long-term storage given that it is completely unsecured, but for traveling to/from my destination, this is a much better place for it than in my IWB holster. There is no way in hell I'd be able to draw the gun in time should something come up and I needed to.

For those of you that are thinking, "Oh, sweet, now I know where this dude keeps his gun" - if you see the truck parked and I am not in it, neither is the gun.

There are quite a few people on here who have already posted about this but I have yet to see many threads showing pics of what was done so I figured I'd go ahead and post my solution.

I am not starting this thread to debate gun laws, gun control, the pros/cons to carrying your gun in the center console versus your holster, etc. - please do not derail this thread with that shit.

Please be sure to read and fully understand all local laws/statutes before carrying a handgun on your person or in your vehicle.

    Thanks for reading!

    Thanks!

This holster would actually work almost anywhere - once you have securely velcro'd it's pretty stout.

Nice. Did you also consider using one of those gun magnets? That's what I was thinking about doing since I dont want to leave holes for a holster.

His idea won't leave holes for a holster. It is held by velcro

For $9 you really can't beat it. Hell, the velcro would have been more expensive if I didn't already have some laying around.

    Thanks dude!

I've seen those, but in the state of Florida, without a CCP (haven't gotten my FL one yet, still have my AR one) you have to have the handgun securely encased (glove box, center console, etc.).

As for the mount, I have heard those work very well.

I have never actually heard of the gun magnet idea. I did it this way as there are was no drilling required. I'm sure the velcro would be a bit of a pain to remove but I'd rather that than have holes there should I ever want to relocate the holster or not carry it in the truck anymore.

I did think about just lining that entire side with velcro, but I couldn't find any that I thought would withstand the Florida heat in sheet form. I just happen to have some of this industrial strength stuff laying around from a project at work and new it could withstand a good amount of heat.

The holster/velcro combo is incredibly sturdy. No movement at all while driving, even over some of the roughest railroad tracks in Orlando. :D

Very nice! I just happen to have a 357Sig that looks just like that and would fit perfectly. Great idea. Thanks

Another good idea. I was looking at those but didn't see one for my S&W Sigma 9mm....

    Maybe I overlooked?

Thanks much - hope it works just as well for you as it does me!

    That's pretty sweet!

The net came with my 2007 but didn't come with my 2011 or 2013. I just ordered it at the dealership for $6.37. :D
