2WD Regular cab base model.

I'm surprised they come with doors.

ROFL! Oh wait, that should be since I plan to buy one this Spring.

I figure that if I asked a Toyota exec why the base model doesn't come with any features, his response would probably be, <Japanese>"Sir, you are lucky we even make that truck at all!"</Japanese>

According to Toyota.com, the base model 2013 Taco comes "standard" with:
Quote:
Star Safety System™ - includes Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) [11], Traction Control (TRAC), Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA) [12] and Smart Stop Technology (SST) [13]. At speeds greater than five miles per hour, when the accelerator is depressed first and the brakes are then applied firmly for longer than one-half second, Smart Stop Technology is designed to help the driver bring the vehicle to a complete stop.

[11] Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) is an electronic system designed to help the driver maintain vehicle control under adverse conditions. It is not a substitute for safe driving practices. Factors including speed, road conditions and driver steering input can all affect whether VSC will be effective in preventing a loss of control. Please see your Owner's Manual for further details.

[12] Brake Assist is designed to help the driver take full advantage of the benefits of ABS. It is not a substitute for safe driving practices. Braking effectiveness also depends on proper brake-system maintenance and tire and road conditions.

[13] Smart Stop Technology operates only in the event of certain simultaneous brake and gas pedal applications. When engaged, the system will reduce engine power to help the brakes bring the vehicle to a stop. Factors including speed, road conditions and driver input can all impact stopping distance. Smart Stop Technology is not a substitute for safe and attentive driving and does not guarantee instant stopping. Please see your Owner's Manual for further details.
So theoretically, the newest Tacomas all do have traction control, but maybe some of the older Gen 2 Tacos didn't?

This picture of a 2013 base model, regular cab seems to show a traction control button:

Also note the "Display Audio" radio... seems odd they'd put that in a base model?

Ya, 2008 came with none of that.
It has "Smart Stop" thanks to the floor mat recall, but it wasn't factory.

But no buttons at all. No cruise, no intermittent wipers.

I have the same switch as you. To make it fit in one of the slots, I wrapped a zip tie around the switch and put it in. Looks like oem lol
