Tacoma users in the Armed Forces

I just visited Colorado Springs for a little vacation and i'm just amazed at how many people there own tacos, especially people serving the the air force. in about two days of being there i must have seem over 300 2nd gen's alone. is that normal for a big city? or is it just that people in the military love themselves a good Tacoma?

 

Some of us retired military guys like our Tacomas also.

 

Come to fort Bragg lol. Taco's everywhere.

 

My unit's parking lot has 11 2nd gen Tacomas in it, and we only have about 120 people total. In fact, one of the moderators here is my coworker . . .

They seem really popular! Don't know why, but i'm not complaining, only the cool guys have tacos!

Popular truck around my base as well. I see more than usual amount of tundras here at Charleston.

 

We got about 10 out of 110 people with Tacomas (never really thought about it until just now though)

 

There are lot of Tacos in Fort Knox as well, 1st and 2nd gen. Military life - moving and carrying gear requires a tough reliable truck.

 

There's a decent number of them at Fort Sill. I've been trying to get some of them to join the forum.

 

Pretty high number of them here in Italy too considering if you want it here, ya gotta bring it with ya

 

Not too many here at Offutt, more people drive the other big 3 (Ford, Chevy, Dodge).

 

San Antonio is a big military town and you see Tacomas all over down here too. Helps that they make 'em here now too! ;-)

 

tacomas seem to be everywhere here in in Alaska

 

Military bases are also a good place to pick up TACOs when you can find them. Alot of guys go oversea's and can't take them with them so they sell them saying they will buy a new one when they get back to the states...

 

A lot of folks don't know this:

American special forces use,
During Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom, multiple Toyota Tacomas have been observed in use by special forces units of the U.S. Army. Typically, they have been Double Cab models, with SR5 and TRD packages.

Despite the fact that the Hilux, from which the Tacoma is descended, is extremely common in the Middle East, the special forces found it to be easier to purchase Tacomas from American dealerships, modify them appropriately, and ship them to their areas. The gasoline engine used is significantly quieter than the diesel engines used in the HMMWV and some Hilux models. These were modified by eliminating the factory radio, along with almost all exterior lights and door buzzers. The front headlights have been modified to work in IR, in order to work with night vision. The engines are unmodified, but the vehicles have been fitted with brush guards, Warn winches, and a rollbar with a machine gun mount.

 

All three of the Air Force bases I've been on have had a pretty large amount of Tacoma's. In fact, I bought my Tacoma just recently from a guy on base haha

In a Toyota club out here in NM with a lot of Tacos. I see them everywhere both first and second gen.
