I found the issue. When the truck got immersed with water the plug did and the pins did too of the yaw module itself.. I tried cleaning it all out and clearing everything but I think the sensor has bitten the big one. I'm just curious as to how it lasted so long being wet without shorting out. Options guys???

Bummer. I have never seen anyone have that kind of trouble with the mod. There is really nothing to mess up. The yellow wire is only a ground signal. Did you remember any static discharges?

Back up a bit. Disconnect the battery so there is no power in the system. Press on the brakes a few times to discharge the capacitors, then patch the yellow wire back together again. See if your problem is still there or goes away. Carefully look around the area and the adjacent terminals in that connector you were working in to see if you might of disconnected or broke another wire, or accidentally backed out another terminal.

Other than that I'm sort of out of ideas here. Maybe someone else with a '12 that has done it can chime in here.

No, at this point the module has been submersed in water and has been shorted out indefinitely. I know that because I pulled a bunch of water out of it. I need a new or used YAW sensor but I get the feeling the dealer would hang me out to dry for warranty work because I have submerged the interior in water. I need part number 89183-48030 Yaw sensor and I can't seem to find any locally that are cheap enough. Dealer wants over $540 my price just for the sensor. There is no way in hell I will ever pay that much for a stupid little sensor!

The yellow wire mod had nothing to do with it after all.

Yep, I would start searching in the junkyard first. There are some online that you can contact and tell them what part you need.

Glad you got it figured out. Just out of curiosity, where was the yaw rate sensor located in the trucks interior?

Right under the carpet on the drivers side seat. If you ever go fording. Find a way to waterproof it!!!!

Right under the carpet of the drivers seat. Sorry if that didn't make sense. I was doing a million diferent things and it made sense at the time. It's right under this zinc plated looking bracket. And two bolts hold it in place. Unbolt the 4 bolts to the seat and tilt it back and remove the drivers side door sill cover, kickpanel and lift all the carpet. More then accessible when you have reached that point.

    No prob bob!

To everyone else, who likes to go mudding and fording. Secure this piece and the small SRS sensor right by the pillar with some sort of sealing, weather it be a ziploc bag or some sort of waterproof bag.

Just wanted to revisit this post and let everyone know that I replaced the YAW module and the moment I did ABS turned off but not VSC. I tried paperclip method but no luck. I drove the truck back over to my dad's and used his scanner to reset the memory, then I performed a zero calibration of the YAW, which I should add is very straight forward. 2 minutes after the calibration, I shut the truck off then back on. Lights are all gone now and carpet is dry :D

Looking at the old sensor, I could actually where it shorted and burnt the plastic. It has a slight discoloration mark on pin three. I should had known the moment I saw it. All in all a scanner is the best thing to have for this truck.

Chalk it up to a lesson learned. I will be buying some silicone RTV, taking out both driver and passenger seats and applying silicone to each grommet on the floor in order to prevent water re-entry in the event that I do decide I'd like to go scuba diving again. Though after this PITA experience. The chances are looking a bit less likely.

You might want to look into the rubber/plastic floor option that Toyota have for 2012's just in case you want to go swimming again, no more drying carpet.

It appears the option code from the dealer is FL.. however, that piece is a regional deal and only 30 or so trucks in the 2012 year came like that.. A part number and someones "VIN" (The vin is the most important, the part number is not of huge importance) in order to avoid the dealers run around bullish*t would be of HUGE help.

I don't think you need a vin, I saw in a Tacoma brochure under the accesories section while waiting for my oil change at the dealership.

I have a 2013 accessories brochure and I never saw that available as an option. I'm in the norcal area where there isn't too many places to wheel which could explain a lack of accessories.
