Hey guys, so I had a 2008 Honda Civic Si that was involved in a hit and run when it was parked at a friends house. The car was declared totaled through my insurance and i'm receiving $12,300 after my deductible and the $1,600 I still owed. I'm now looking at trying to get a Tacoma. The dealership has a 2009 Silver Tacoma DCLB PreRunner TRD Sport with 41k miles. The price was $25,989 which totaled $27,400 OTD. I got them down to $25,500 OTD after TTL. It has one owner and the carfax was clean with all maintenance done at the dealership. I plan on putting down $10K and financing the rest and this is the max i'm comfortable with payment wise. I'm not locked in yet because I haven't received my money from my car but they are holding it for me. I want to know if this is a good deal?

I paid 25k for my 2010 DCSB SR5 prerunner with 45k ..so I would say that's a pretty fair dealer price for a TRD

you can talk them down more, no doubt. i got my 2010 for a lot cheaper than that, and i traded in a honda crv with 169,000 miles, so not much for trade in value lol

I would look at a new one too. I got my 2010 sport for 28k brand new back in the day, talked them down from 32k with no trade in. then you will have nothing to worry about, fresh warranty and all the miles will be your miles.

Listen..... Buy this truck new. Almost all used deals on Toyotas are sort of a rip off... even more so if you get it from the dealership..... 45 thousand miles is not a lot but you have NO IDEA how that truck was driven.... either way its a fair argument that a truck with that sort of miles is roughly 25% through its life.... yea yea yea we all want out tacos to run for three hundred thousand miles and they will... as long as you spend money so if you think of it from the view point of that truck already being roughly 25 % done with its life then you look at the cost of a new one..... it just seems steep is all I am saying...... I had this same problem when i bought mine this summer.... I ended up with a RC five speed but the dealer downt he street was was selling an 07 with 141 thousnad on it and still wanted fourteen..... the brand new one was only twenty.... if you look at the big picture IMHO its a bit of a scam
    good luck

^^^agreed. my first Tacoma (2010 Base Reg cab) was driven like i stole it. although it only had 15k miles it was beat like a scalded dog. my '13 has been babied and never even romped on. so altjough low milage could be problems soon up the road

    Sweet ones.
I think 25 is pretty high. I bought a used 08 4x4 OR DCSB with 48k miles 6 months ago for close to 23 after everything, including an extended platinum warranty out to 100k miles.

Looking at other deals people on here got, I feel like I could have done better. But I love my truck and am completely happy with the price I paid.

I'd talk them down. It's a prerunner first of all. If its been on their lot for a whole that's another reason they'll come down on price.

I know mine is a couple of years older, but I bought my 07 TRD D-Cab Off Road brand new in spring of 07 for only $25,500. So, 25k seems high to me for a 3-4 year old taco. Whatever decision you make, you can't go wrong with the Tacoma.

I was shopping for a new Taco recently as well and found that the resale value of these trucks is so strong that it's almost a no-brainer to buy the thing new if you're looking for a newer year with low miles. I could either get a used one with 20k-30k miles for about $1000-$2000 less, or I could get EXACTLY what I wanted with 0 miles, a warranty, 2 years of free service, and piece of mind knowing that I was there for every mile put on the truck for about $1000-$2000 more than a used one.

I recently bought my 09 tacoma PreRunner with 85k for 16k. Check out KBB and car gurus.com to see and compare truck prices for the same. It sounds like for the price you are quoted that it would be almost better to get a brand new one. Plus you can usually get low to zero percent financing which coupled with your down payment could keep your payments for a new tacoma close to the same. Just a thought.

Thanks for the feedback guys I ended up changing my mind on this one and going to keep looking. Getting a new one was tempting but with my situation I need to get something used. I know looking at the deal it was a little more than what I had in mind and I realized this and hoping to find something more in my range.

I paid that for a brand new 2012 DCSB PreRunner TRD Sport with 11 miles. Go to Priority Toyota, they'll deal.
