Mudflaps on or off?

So i noticed my mudflaps scrape a lot when i go offroading. But they kinda look good being there. So what do you all think? ^

You could look into buying some aftermarket shorter mudflaps

i like the look of them off, but if you would lke to keep some sort of flap for protecton purposes you could just trim yours down some

I took my fronts off because of the scraping on small things. I left the rears on. Might get some aftermarket rears, we will see

As a general rule-of-thumb I throw mudflaps away like spoiled fish, but since this Taco is brand spankin' new I'm leaving them on until they break off to save my paintjob. The front ones scrape on everything... they'll definitely break off first. Plus they don't look half bad.

Keep them on and they'll wear a line in your paint. I took mine off after a hundred miles or so and it was already starting to wear through the clearcoat.

No shat? So the flaps tend to concentrate all the debris to one spot on the body whereas without them it gets spread around more? Interesting... I'll have to take a closer look at my clearcoat. Thanks.

i personally keep mine off. My tires are too wide for the flaps to even do anything protection wise, and when their off, the truck kinda looks a little higher

Nope, they flex while you drive. Clean or not, the movement rubs through the finish. No real harm since it's rubbing on a plastic fender flare, but it does happen.

I trimmed my front mud flaps about 4-1/2 inches and left the rears alone.

Thanks

I guess I haven't paid much attention to them until today. Found out that I only have one front flap. I guess my Taco is rejecting them.

I originally took them off a few months after getting my truck because I was tired of landing on the fronts when going off of curbs. After I put on my lift and winter hit, all the gravel they lay down on the ice and snow was beating the shit out of my paint job. So now they are back on. I personally like the look when they are off, but not enough to f-up my paint job.
