If you want your mileage go for the 2.7 5 speed. I get 27 mpg all day and when I'm a lead foot I get 23. First gens are rock solid.

If you're serious, you should sell the 2nd gen and buy a 1st... Most 2nd gens are still holding they're value very well. Anyhow good luck with your decision!

Bw s256 turbo with 3 in glass pack dumped pre axle raptor liner bed and top rails and fenderflares and rocker panels. Hunter side steps. Plasti-dipped upper fenders and emblems. satin black spray paint here and there inside and out. 5100's set to 1.75" up front . C channel front bumper. Maxxis bighorn 255/85/16
Not this guy. I had a 95 base ref cab with 2.4 and manage 31mpg and loved it for 7 years, but I need to drop $1000+ in it and it would have only been worth 1800 after that (front seals 6 of em $70 a piece plus labor and need new tires and blower motorwas out and freon line bust from my grandad backing into me which also busted my grill) so I sold for 1300 and put 3k down on my truck now and financed 10k almost halfway paid off now at just under two years. I get 19 ish city and have gotten 24 in rural driving. I have a locker and love it and a full back seat and love that. Not a tM of the short bed but made a bed extender so problem solved. My truck still books for like 16k so wise investment for me in my mind but I never plan to sell, its all I will ever need. I think the 2nd gens are a good size, especially if u have a family. But if its bigger than what u want go for the 1st gen

Not as wide is what I like about the 1st Gens. But mine was getting long in the tooth. I had to go Access cab was why I sold my Gen I, and the odometer cable was starting to squeak and howl. I had too many problems with the cable before on the 1990, I wasn't gonna go through the constant lube on that thing.
