Hey looking to get a new truck very soon and the options are as follows:
    - Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport LB
    - Ford F-150 FX4 or FX2
    - Chevy Silverado 1500
    - GMC 1500

The Tacoma is the most affordable obviously but I love the look and the performance of the larger American trucks. Any thoughts?

Tacoma's are made in Texas and California. And actually last. The end.
Also v6 tacoma's stock put out 236 hp but only weigh I think its 5250... Compared to the full sized that put out about 305 hp and mabey 70 80 lbs of torque more then the taco. but weigh 2-3k more..

    How about a supercharged tundra?

Straight line performance that scares tires into pooping themselves.....and its made in the us just like the tacoma.

    What are your specific needs?

If your looking at full sized trucks you should check out a 5.7 Tundra. Almost the same price as a Tacoma, but way more power. If you don't need all that extra power, the Tacoma is an awesome truck.

Commissioning in May into the USAF and want to be able to haul whatever. I'm driving a 09 VW GTI now and test drove the ted sport Lb today and it didnt feel like it had much pick up? Maybe it is just cause I am used to a little 200 hp turboed go kart?

The TRD Sport LB was white and had a price of 31,447 but after all the stupid taxes and sh*t would be about 34k. Trying to work that lower and they would throw in a set of side rails. Wanted a magnetic gray though. I was looking at the Tundras too but it seems like a tank of a truck! To me it feels WAY bigger than the silverado or the 150.

Full size are completely different animals than mid size trucks. My advise would be test drive all till you can determine which you like better. Shouldn't take long, they ride and handle way different. When I got mine I was tempted to get a tundra because price was similar, but it only took a few test drives and parking it for me to realize it was more than I wanted.

You are the one that's going to be stuck with payments buy the one you like the best. I had no need for a big truck so it wasn't on the radar. If you want trouble free miles that out last the payment book get the Tacoma.

What I can share on this...I went from a 94 Toyota pickup to a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 2wd to a 2011 Tacoma 4x4 access cab. The Tacoma is by far the "better" small truck than the dodge.

The GMC and Chevy are basically the same truck with different options. I think you better redefine your needs.

+1. Buy what you really want.

Even a brand new LT makes more than enough money to cover the vehicle payment on a sub 40k vehicle at a decent interest rate.

If you aren't getting a great interest rate you should wait until you commission, and enroll in one of the military focused credit unions.

Keep in mind, you'll have full benefits, base housing, and a commissary to buy food at. Most of us in the military spend far less time driving our vehicles than our civilian counterparts do annually, so your fuel costs will be lower. The benefit of having a car you love to drive is priceless when you do get home.
