I have a 2005 6 speed V6 4x4 access cab. When I shift into second gear sometimes it randomly grinds and kicks out of gear, both shifting normally and down shifting. It feels like I get it all the way in the gear but it randomly kicks it out. Also when I shift into 3rd if I dont do it really slowly it will grind a lil but go into gear both shifting normally and down shifting. However I have also noticed that my clutch pedal is a lil stiffer then usual and doesnt bounce back quite as fast as usual.
I took my truck in somewhat deep water a couple times and since then I've replaced my alternator and the upper idler #2 pulley. Safe to say I've learned my lesson the hard way about deep water. Any ideas or threads anyone can refer me to, thanks everyone.

Sounds like your shift forks are going bad, and possibly a synchronizer. TheEarly 6 speeds are noted to have those problems.

Yea I was thinking it might be a synchonizer, I'm really new to all this mechanical bizz so I guess its time to research how to replace those or see what the cost is to have it done. Thanks for the response, appreciate it
