zusy3ejy_baebc565961ae11c55cfb954ef30e151fe17fb61.jpgI have 130K miles on my 2006 TRD OR DC, and the drivers seat just developed a hole. Have others worn through this fast?

Any repair options other that fabric covers (like Wet Okolye)? I checked with a local shop about leather covers, but $1100 seems a bit extreme. And I really don't like leather for the heat and cold retention.

    Maybe just a junkyard replacement?

If you find a local uphostery repair company or something similar. If you don't know just ask your local dealer who they use to fix their cars.

I paid 50 bucks and got a similar.. actually worse rip fixed in one of my old truck and you couldnt even tell it was ripped there!

It that part of the seat folding over and rubbing the knob when you get out of the truck? It might be too harsh in that spot to support a repair for very long. Worth a try though.

Normal for that many miles. I try not to put as much weight on my thigh/buttocks when I get out, sometimes it's difficult especially when tired.

I got some Katzkin leather upholstery off of ebay and did the install myself. Price plus shipping was $275 and the labor was free. It was well worth the price and time and effort. My truck has 162k on it, and it made my truck feel new again, and the aroma of the leather is fantastic.

That will happen over time when you slide your ass over the lumbar knob on your way out of the truck.

Yes - it's folding over and impacting the knob. But, I'm not a big guy - 5'11" and 170lbs - you would think the seat would be designed to be a littler firmer there.

About these Katzkin covers... I have seen those on eBay, but figured they would be really difficult to install. Those would be a perfect option if they are within reason for a home-mechanic.

I had never done any kind of upholstery work at all before attempting this. There are a few good how-to threads on here, and I used the one from homertaco. Its a great step by step with plenty of pics.

I have a rip in the same spot on my 06

I sewed up the rip and am getting some seat covers. Not a fan of the seat fabric anyway :)
