So a few weeks ago I went into a Toyota dealership asking about a Tacoma. I know exactly what I want. 4x4 access cab OR in spruce mica. I'm planning on trading in a 2011 Mazda 3 with 11k miles in damn near mint condition. Anyway, I didn't want to buy it then because I'm in the Navy and I'm supposed to be deploying in March.

So after telling them how it's pointless for me to buy a truck now when I'll be overseas for the next eight months, they offer me $16k for my car and drop the price of the Taco down to $25k. I ALMOST said yes...but held my ground and refused.

And yesterday I found out my deployment has been delayed until July.

    Ughhhhh.

    same shit as everyone else
Screw that. Who knows when you are going to deploy that shit always changes. Buy it. Put it in a storage locker when you are underway as everything will be peachy. Buy some cool shit for it when you are on the ship and have a week long mod day on your two weeks leave when you get back. Buy that shit meow!

The one they had there is now gone, by the way.

I might have to head in there sometime this week and be like "hey so, remember that time you guys offered me that price...yeahhhh...about that..."

Isn't 16k a bit.... low for your car? Sell it private party instead... Also why get a higher payment while deployed, wait until you get back...

See, that's the other thing. If I wait until after deployment, I can throw down a huge down payment and have the whole truck completely paid off in like two years.

And nah, value for my car is about $16-17k.

Well... then there is your answer... wait for the down payment and try to stay as debt free as possible. I wish I could go kick myself in the ass when I was younger to tell myself that ;)

Yeah, I'm completely debt free (well, outside of my current car loan) and my credit score is excellent, so I'm not all too concerned about that.

Really, my issue here is that I'm impatient. There's nothing wrong with my car...at all. I just want a Taco instead, haha.

Don't get to hung up on both trade in # and new truck #. Just find the end price u want to pay and tell em u don't care how they get to that # but that's all your paying....
