Tacoma is perfect. Need a box but don't need the over kill engine that sucks gas. Unless I own a fifth wheel or something.

    No.

I do see some of the previous gen Tundras that are nice and are a good deal. I'd get one of those if I didn't have my truck.

X2. Would've preferred my truck to be around the size of 1st-gen Tacos.

A buddy just got a loaded F150 FX4 w/Ecoboost - I would take that thing over a Tundra. It's amazingly well appointed, if you're into that.

I like my bare-bones Taco. It's got all the ameneties I need, with nothing I don't. I feel the exact same way about its size. Just big (and small) enough.

Something is always in the works
I was in that same mindset in 2007 when the 2nd gen Tundras came out (never considered the big three). The incentives were insane, and I couldn't believe I paid less for my SR5/TRD DC Tundra than a similar Tacoma (which I started off looking at).
I was hauling trailers for work and loading the bed when I wasn't pulling a trailer and felt a 5.7 V8 could do a better job.
It did. I loved the Tundra. Super comfortable and all the interior space I needed for me and my family. All the power I needed, even hauling 10K in equipment/trailers. I really got spoiled with the power seats (like lazy-boys) and the higher-end details that Toyota thinks Tacoma owners don't need.

After almost 6 years, I'm back in a Tacoma, and very happy about it. I'm saving about $700 in gas because of the better mileage (+/-20k miles/year). Yes, the Taco is less refined and smaller (interior), but the Tundra was very expensive in every way (mods!, oil changes with Mobil 1= $108, fill-ups=$85, etc).
    Much happier keeping it simple.
Don't fall for "The Grass Is Always Greener" Syndrome.

Looked at the Tundra when I was shopping for a new truck but found the Tacoma was much more practical for my needs. I really like it. Best truck I've owned.

Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
    .
FWIW ... I used to drive Tundras (older & newer model sizes) and switched to Tacomas and the smaller Tacoma is much better for my uses.

If I need a bigger truck ... I would buy another Tundra ... can't compare the two ... one is bigger ... one is smaller ... smaller one fits my needs better now.

PS ... I hope the present Tacoma does not get bigger in the 3rd Gen ... but it probably will get bigger like the updated 4Runner.

I'm the same way man. I traded an 06 crew cab tundra for my tacoma and really havnt looked back since. Sometimes I contemplate trading for an acess cab. But the tacoma is ultimately all I really need.

I wouldn't mind having a 1st gen Tundy. they're not THAT much bigger than my 1st gen Taco with the added accessibility of the suicide doors and the added power from the V8. plus they use a lot of Tacoma parts so mods wouldn't be too hard to complete.

but if you're talking the 3rd gen Tundra, you can miss me with that one. too bulky and the whole exterior design just doesn't work for me

i did at first feel i should have gotten a tundra, but the taco is one of the most comfortable trucks i've ever been in. i simply enjoy driving it. now, mind you, i could be considered "meth-head thin" so, to me the seats fit extremely well. all the taco lacks is suspension capable of hauling, and thats about it.

the taco can do more than the tundra can imo. it is an extremely well rounded machine, just minus bells and whistles and springs

This past summer I traded my 2011 5.7L Tundra "Rock Warrior" CrewMax 4x4 for my 2nd and current Tacoma (09 Access cab 4L).

The Tundra is a beast for sure, but just not as nimble as a Taco by a long shot.

Also I could not justify all of that towing power when I rarely towed anything at all. Especially not a space shuttle.

The Taco is perfect in every way... it has enough power for me and is a lot more manageable off road. Just a more practical choice overall for my non-380hp needs.

I owned a 2011 Tundra with the 5.7 L engine. Had it for about a year. The only down side was it didn't have 4 wheel drive. That was my main reason for selling it. Now I have a Tacoma and love it.

The smaller size makes it easier to get around both on and off road. Slightly better gas mileage, not a whole lot though honestly. Perfect size for what I use it for. However, I do miss the massive interior on the Tundra. That aspect was great for long trips or when you are driving a lot of people.

IMO, the new style tundras look like a fat, sick bull, just struggling to get up and move.

Plus if I ever got anything bigger or more powerful than a taco, itd be a new Chevy duranax 2500.
If I wanted something more powerful and fast, then a built 300zx

my Tacoma is just perfect for my needs and wants

No, I'm quite satisfied with my purchase decision. I went with the Tacoma to have a slightly smaller vehicle (too tired too often to be climbing in & out of a big truck) and save a bit on fuel. It comfortably tows what I need it to tow (an 18' jon boat, an 19' camper, or a utility trailer) and the size just feels right in traffic or parking lots. Finally, it's a blast off-road. All of that adds up to a major win for me.
