Hey Benson X, I just wanted to give you a big thumbs up for your superb writing and editing ability of this DIY  It makes it really easy to read and follow and IMHO brings a post to a new level.

Oh, and I would also be interested in purchasing some of the brackets.

I haven't actually measured the length of the short bed but wouldn't one fit longways? i feel like I see many with them going longways unless those are the 48"

I think it might since the short bed is 5', but don't quote me on it. I'm sure you can make a 60" work, maybe even angle it so it fits?

I've done a bunch of cheap mods to the bed area of my truck using quick-fist clamps and kayak paddle holders.

Holders for my roof racks (I think you can also see the rings I have mounted to the roof for holding my kids hockey sticks.

You can. My 60" HiLift fits fine in my short bed right along the inside edge.

of washer fluid? Maybe I just don't use my fluid as much as you guys. Even with road trips I might add fluid twice a year, maybe.

I only use the rain-ex fluid. If Toyota would have spent the $10 it would have cost to add an indicator to let people know when the fluid was low, I wouldn't have to carry a gallon. And yes, we use a lot of fluid around here. Between bugs in the summer and salt in the winter, I seem to go through a gallon a month and I always run out at the most inopportune times.

If you run with a cover on your short bed, you can flip the jack so the large runner points down and nothing sticks up above the bed rail. Your jack will clear the cover this way.

I carry my 60" jack on the driver side, base towards the tailgate and large runner pointing down. This puts the jack reversing lever closest to the bedside and protects it from cargo. I use a jackmate so I mount my jack without the base plate and top clamp-clevis mounted on the jack. I keep the jackmate, base plate and top clamp-clevis with the rest of my recovery gear.
