Has anyone built/seen a tool holder that locks the tools when not in use?. I would love to put a shovel in my bed, but don't want it to walk off when I'm not around.

If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
Now I can update this without spilling the beans :p

I made a set of tool mounts and Hi-Lift mounts for my TWSS "Giftee" this year.

When I was piecing everything together at Lowes, I found some great heavy-duty, through-threaded knobs to use instead of wing-nuts.

I need to go back and grab a couple more for myself, but these are a great alternative to wing-nuts to tighten the Hi-Lift on the mounts - much easier on the fingers and makes it faster to install/remove.

I will post a pic of the actual part # and update the OP when I get a couple more, but it is a 3/8-16 HD Knob.

    Here's a link to Lowes' site: http://www.lowes.com/ProductDisplay...gId=10051&cmRelshp=req&rel=nofollow&cId=PDIO1

I could do that, or you could build them yourself and feel like a badass once they're done :)

Are you looking for just the Hi-Lift Mount, or both the Tool + Hi-Lift mount?

I would have to tally the total cost for parts+time, but it would be under $50 for parts.

I personally love that i made mine myself.

When my buddy asked me, "where'd you get those?"

    My reaction was:
As i exclaimed that i made them myself :D

And then when he asked, "why don't you make me a set for my shovel?!"

    I was like:

    ^^^lol, awesome!

I completely agree - it is nice to be able to show pride and ingenuity w/o being conceited or vain.

BUT....I am totally down to make some if people don't have the time or means to make them on their own. However, as stated in the OP, I am not a fully functional shop, nor do I have access to fancy tools, so everything I make comes with it's own signature of imperfect DIY branding :D

I grew up watching "New Yankee Workshop" and Norm's DIY ethos and preference for good 'ol fashioned hand-tools and elbow grease has truly stuck with me and motivated me to adopt the same philosophy.

I'm sure your craftsman ship is better than mine, i just love that i was able to do it for under $50 and about 5 hours of my time.

I think it would be absolutely badass if you started making them for people Ben!! There is no reason (other than entrepreneurial profit) that companies are charging $125-$200 for their tool mounts :(

They're easier than the tool mounts and less expensive
