It was about 20 degrees out last night when I decided head out, started my 05 tacoma, didn't let it warm up, just took off. I got about a half mile down the road, and it just died. I started it back up, and it didn't want to go into gear smoothly, pushed the gas pedal to the floor and it would only get up to 2500 rpm. Limped it home, at about 25mph ( top speed). By the time I got it back it was warmed up. I turned it off, went in the house, sulked, and decided to see what happened when I started it warm. It ran fine.

I'm guessing its a sensor of some sort that didn't like the cold start, any ideas?

In Syracuse NY the past week have had a few days around -10F and i haven't had any problems except a tiny bit slower than normal cranking on start up. If it cleared itself up im sure it wasn't anything major. Let us know if it happens again. Did ya get any not normal noises or feelings when this happened?

It's been working fine since, no weird noises. The gas pedal sensor sounds plausible, although I was still getting some response from the pedal, just not much. Definitely gremlins. What's the OBDII code for gremlins?

Maybe I'll try some Heet to dry out the fuel system.
