Braking while pressing on the gas pedal question.

So, just got done changing out brake pads on the truck and power bleeding the front lines. I got a little oil on the pads which is no big deal. Went for a quick drive around the neighborhood to test out the truck to make sure everything was ok. One thing I have now noticed and didn't before.... When accelerating or traveling at a consistent speed and pressing the brake pedal LIGHTLY, the truck will decelerate to almost a stop. (NO IT WASN"T THE BRAKES SLOWING ME DOWN). I pressed on the brakes just enough for the brake light to come on but not apply any pressure to the pads. Want to know if this is normal with our trucks... Again, I have not noticed this before. If I let off the brake, the truck drives like normal. Also, if i am at a stop with my foot hard on the brake and the press the gas, the truck does want to accel.

Any feedback or comments about this would be great.... thanks y'all

When you press the brakes....the truck will slow down

maybe you need to get use to the new brakes?

Can you have to much fluid in the lines causing pre-mature braking?

It's a normal operation. The throttle cuts out when enough brake is applied.

Yup.

Toyota's floor mat recall.
Trim/hack the pedal so the mats won't snag it.
Flash the software so if more than 25% throttle is applied and the brakes are applied, the ECU shuts down to idle.

Of course, activated by the brake light switch, so if your switch is not adjusted properly, you could dump to idle when driving normally if the switch is "touchy"

The reason i was pressing the brakes and the gas was to heat them up quickly to "burn" off the oil that was on them... just didn't want it to sit on the pads.

The pedal chop was done without my permission a while back. Took the truck in for the blower motor under warranty and they took it upon themselves to do the pedal chop...

Oz, Rich and File... thanks for the heads up with this. I haven't power bled my breaks since the work was done by the dealer and hadn't done both pedals at once since then... appreciate the info fellas

You should have hit everything with brake cleaner when you were done rather than trying to 'burn off' any oil you spilled... With the wheel off, dose the caliper and rotor with CRC Brakleen to remove any excess oils and brake fluid. What you did, go for a drive knowing you had oil on your brakes, isn't necessarily the best idea.

i agree with this post. any oil even brake fluid isnt a good thing to just try and burn off. those pads will chatter forever

Hahahh I used to something similar in my turbo integra. Build full boost while driving 20mph. 3rd honk and release of the brake.....gone.

In the turbo world it's called brake boosting.

Brake stand should work. The brake override is only supposed to kick in if you hit the brakes after gas.
