Newbie here. Looking for some help. I am looking for a gen2 Tacoma. This will be my 4th Toyota truck but 1st gen 2. Anything I should look for or stay away from? My current target is an access cab, 4x4, v6, manual. Extra goodies like power options would be nice.

    Thanks
    Tom

More specifically, frame rust. Check the cross member under the engine for cracks and rust.

Well I looked at a 2005 access cab today. v6, 6spd, trd offroad. Just what I want. Neat truck. Looked good, ran good, sounded good.....rusty frame on the l/side at about the A-post. The metal was separating, like pealing a layer of metal away. No hole yet but way more than surface rust. Crap. I really liked the truck and the price seemed good as well. I guess I'll have to look for a southern truck. Thanks for the heads up on the rust.
