Hopfully there is somone out there that can verify something for me.
The story is, I had a bed extender installed with the purchase of 2013 Short Bed Double Cab. I verified with two people at dealership that it would be th "U" shaped extender and not the "V" shape.

So, when I went to pick up the truck, they had installed the "V" extender.
They are offering money back, saying "U" shape is no longer available.
I believe there are "U" shape extenders available on the web still.

The question is.......Can someone confirm that and older extender (part # would be great, I think they were from 05- 11 or 12?) will work with the brackets they have already installed for the 2013 version "V" ?
Or maybe someone can post the mounting template so I can compare.
The dealer is kind of clueless..............

As long as the bracket mounting hole are in the same place I should be ok I think
Oh....and obviously I mean extender not "externder"

I have a 'U' extender that was given to me, but I never installed it. From what I've read, the 'V' and 'U' shaped units use the same bracket.

If you really really want one and can't find one, I'll sell you mine cheap.

    Brackets are the same.
    That new style extender sucks.

Winch, front hitch, step bars, bed extender, bed step, gull-wing toolbox, tailgate lock, security system, cb radio, etc.
I suspect Toyota changed the bed extender to avoid overloading the tailgate (now room for only one dirt bike, for example, not two). Anyway, they both look u-shaped to me. Neither look v-shaped. Regardless, dealers will rarely order off the internet for you. No profit in it and too much risk.

Personally, I like the newer version better since there's more space on each side to climb into and out of the bed.

The part number for the older version (2005-2011) is PT392-35000. The part number for the current version (2012+) is PT392-35120. Don't know myself if the mounting brackets are exactly the same.

Almost all Amp extenders are the same. Just buy an Amp off Craigslist. They are the OEM for most brands.
Mine is a motoextender for a silverado and I loosened it all up to narrowed it. Brackets from amp. Total cost was under $40.
