This is something I might look into. How hard is it to install a suspension on a truck? I'm more used to lowering cars.

Man, what I'd give to drive Fiona on those roads some day...breathtaking views man. I gotta ask, are they public roads, or is special access needed?

As for the question you have, I'd say no, it's not needed...but, I did it so that I could crawl over rocky roads without fear of busting my oil pan or door panel.

Special access is needed for the roads. There are other roads hunters use but they don't go as high and those roads I'll definitely need a lift.

Just to clear up some information, a lift (0 to 3 inches) will not help you properly fit larger tires. suspension will still cycle through the exact same space, so if you can properly fit it on a 3 inch lift, it'll fit on no lift as well. by "properly fit" i mean no damage causing rubbing throughout the suspension cycle.

$3k will get you a great package w/ tires! That looks like a quality lift, and I know a number of others on here have purchased it. Do you have the rea-leaf TSB? It's four leaves instead of the standard 3. (I believe t's what is needed for that Toytec pkg).

Also, do the dif breather mod for those water crossings. HERE

Like others have said, THESE should be your tires. I had them on my Wrangler and they were awesome!

Big tires, big lift, Lots of stuff's.
X2 terrible tires. Good on road tire that will last but can't get traction off road with them. I had them it was like having slicks on my truck.

OP if that's all you will be using it for a lift would be for looks only. super charger would be fun though. Everything is better with boost.

Comfortable, quiet, aggressive tread pattern, strongest sidewall of any tire I've ever seen, VERY long lasting, widely available, time tested, snow rated, and I've never gotten stuck.

    What's not to like

It's ok, everyone's got their favorite tires and there is certainly a huge following for the BFG A/T. I think they helped pave the way for a lot of the A/T tires we have today but feel there are better options available. All comes down to personal preference though

Yeah, mine worked very well, too. Had grip, never got a flat, good in rain, mpg's didn't waiver, etc. Hell, even the time I spent w/ Rugged Fails surpassed offroading beyond the extent they were bashed on here. Now ya'll have me wondering what're the suggestion for AT's, then?

EDIT: I never had them in mud.

The company gets fined. There's a limit on how much before the company gets completely shut down.

i voted no on the necessity of a lift. however, if you are anything like the rest of us, the more time you spend on this site, the more you will want to lift.

armor can be your friend. i started with sliders and eventually replaced the front skid. I'd like more protection, but I've decided to lift also. I'm surprised no one has suggested the OME lift. based on cost and functionality, i decided to get 885x springs, and i will buy the rest as i have money. i do plan on getting UCAs, but some say it is not necessary. there is a thread on here about the OME vs. the Toytec UL kit. it really comes down to preference.

as for tires, i would get a slightly taller (32") all terrain. i agree that the bf Goodrich at ko has an awesome sidewall, but its also a very heavy tire. contrary to popular opinion,i haven't had any issues with the stock tires (i have the sport dunlops). when that time comes, I'm leaning toward either the Toyo open country 2, or the Yokohama geolanders. I've heard good things about both of those, and i believe they are relatively lightweight.

i also like being able to put regular gas in my truck. i could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the SC requires premium. i think it would be a lot of fun, but something you would regret in the long run, as you seem to want to keep out practical
