2nd Gen 2.7 General Questions.

Hello All,

I was screwing around with my recently purchased Tacoma the other day and was under the hood looking over the 2.7l. I took the oil cap off and noticed a slight smoke. I started the truck and took the cap off and noticed pressure coming from inside the valve cover, out of the oil fill hole.

Anyone who has owned a 2.7L new; is this normal? any concern?

My piston rings went out on my old truck, and when they did the block was pressurized. I had exhaust gasses coming out of the valve cover and the Dipstick tube, however the truck ran horribly and ate a quart of oil quickly which is not the case with the Tacoma.

I dont know the full anatomy of this 2.7L yet, just thought I'd ask the community what to think.

 

mine has 100,000 miles and 0 blow out the valve cover.maybe a pcv valve plugged or something.some engines use different setups.someone will chime in and know for sure.

 

Hrmmm, No engine light, no irregular performance, and no excessive noise, I just hope its not valve seals or something.
