I'm not sure how many miles until it runs dry, but I just got 352 today and it took 17.5 gallons to fill it back up again.

I usually average 20 mpg, so find out yours and multiply by the fuel tank capacity.

i've only let the light come on once, but 265 miles is about right with average conditions. i was a little better with stock-size tires but not much

A tank is 21 gallons on all '05 and newer Tacomas.

4WD trucks have more weight and get slightly less mileage than 2WD (you didn't say which)

The V-6, 2WD average will be 16-22 mpg, so 336-462 miles per tank.
When the low fuel light comes on, you have 4 gallons in the tank (+/- 1/2 gallon)
When the needle is on the Empty Line, you have 3 gallons (+/- 1/2 gallon)

All highway, no load in the truck, ethanol-free gasoline, maybe get more with the V-6 than 22 mpg? Other V-6 second gen owners???

I have a double cab, 4WD, automatic... rarely have an empty bed and the best I have gotten is 19 1/2 mpg highway. 14 mpg city, but usually 15-17 combined. Multiply any of those numbers by 21 for the miles per tank.

^^ Just so I understand clearly, OP. Did you mean to say "this is my first 2nd generation 4x4 tacoma" or did you mean to say "I get only 270 mpt combined in 4x4 mode?"

    In answer to your question:
    2011
    42K miles
    Auto & 4x4
350 miles per tank when stock.

Now with armor and all, more like 290-300 mpt...

Whats your reasoning behind it being hard on the engine? I definitely think its unnecessary unless its very cold out side, but I don't see how its harder on the engine.

my buddy is a Mercedes mechanic. He says that in the factory they freeze the motors to -30 and start them up and run them full bore until they are hot. Its part of the testing.

About 480-500 miles until the needle touches "E" on all-highway trips.

About 375 miles for mixed city driving.

Are you Manual or Auto? The manual V6 gets lower as well. I was getting 19 MPG before mods.

I remember when I got close to 23mpg in the city and would go over 400 miles to a tank...

then I put on 20"s, and an exhaust, and now I just lifted it and am putting 265's on it next weekend... yeah, 23mpg will never happen again, unless I'm going down hill and with the wind
