I just bought my new truck. It is a 2013 4x4 tacoma double cab with the trd off road package. I am noticing some little things going on with the car that I told the service center about and was told they are normal and do not need to be resolved. I'm not convinced.

The first issue is the squeaky brake pedal. At first I thought it was my shoe but when I looked into it I found out its the hydraulic assist and was told that it cannot be fixed and is also something that happens on the fj cruisers. I was wondering if you guys have a remedy for this or if its a result of the vacuum leaking and it can be fixed?

The second issue is that I am noticing a thumping sensation that transmits through the brake pedal when I apply any amount of pressure on the breaks. It commonly seems to happen when I adjust/let off pressure on the brake and re apply pressure. I was told this thumping has to do with a spring on the brake that needs to break in after some more use of the car and it should go away. Any thoughts on this? It seems to happen inconstantly.

The thirds issue is when I turn on the car and put it in drive I press on the gas and there is a single click that emits from what seems to be my drivers side dash or from behind the steering wheel. I didn't notice this on any test drives.

Despite these small nuances with the car I am loving my truck so far. Luckily there is a great warranty on it so I can get these issues remedied provided they are even issues. Hopefully you all have some thoughts as to whats wrong/normal? Thanks.

Heres some pics of the truck.IMG_20130129_160641_zps27a59aad_c699412424c625cf9ec4cfb40d447a4eaba59cb1.jpg

I have a three day old 2013 and mine does none of those things. Not saying it is/is not an issue...just that I am not experiencing that.

The thumping in the brakes sounds like the axle wrap. You have the 3 pak springs maybe complain to get the tsb for the 4 pak springs.

Oh I know thats the case for sure... I'm not going to buy into their bullshit believe me. Thats why I am on here to hopefully get some honest opinions and be able to go back in there with some better idea's of whats really wrong and whats right. I know I didn't notice these problems at all on any of the test ride in other Tacomas or even the initial test rides in the one I have now.

The guy had the nerve to tell me that the thumping in the breaks will probably go away in 5 to 10 thousand miles... haha.

You can do a search on the web for these issues with 2012 / previous Tacomas and you're going to find these problems + alot more. Seems like people are getting the run around, as you stated you've gotten.

Fairly wide spread, from what I've found, and it doesn't look like Toyota is doing anything to fix these issues as the same problems are showing up year after year. I have a 2011 2.7l 4x4 AC MT. Having issues with an array of things. . .

I'm pretty unhappy to say the least. Good Luck, I hope you can get your truck running as it should. It's a good looking Truck.

I thought axle wrap occurs when you accelerate. Why would it occur when I am braking?

I assume, Utard meant that he thinks the letting off and reapplying of brakes is axle wrap. As far as the noise from brakes on start up, it's normal, not all tacos do it, but a lot do; my 09 did it, my 12 doesn't, but my buddies 12 does.

Overal it sounds like you're having issues with your brakes.

The start up noise doesn't sound like its coming from the breaks. It sounds just like a click when I put it in drive and begin to accelerate. It comes from the area of my steering wheel. I have no idea how I didn't notice this before. Seems impossible that I didn't.

I agree its some kind of brake issue I just don't know what. It does occur when I let off or adjust the break pressure but it also seems to occur when I just simply brake and stop or I am at a complete stop and depress the brake further or let off slightly. It is random and I can't seem to intentionally recreate the thump.

Considering a good number of these posts are from 2013 truck owners who are not experiencing any of my problems I would guess there is definitely a problem with my vehicle. I don't buy into the rationalization that some Tacomas experience these problems while others don't and its just the way it is? For this kind of money I want a truck that performs as the others do.
