I'm going to finally bite the bullet and sell my old Nissan truck and my car and get a Tacoma. Always wanted one. I have my specs nailed down but want to know the difference in cabs. Sounds like extended cab is a jump seat, access cab has a door and crew cab is a full size door. I have a 15 month old that currently is in a backward facing car seat. That will change pretty soon but he is my co pilot and needs a safe spot. I thought I saw a Tacoma the other day that had a smallish second door. Did I imagine that? Would be ideal with the tike. Second door but not the full crew cab. Is that the access cab? Is there a more specific name for it.

    Thanks for the help.

RC = Reg cab, 2 door no back seat.
AC = Access cab, 4 door, small back seat.
DC = Double cab, 4 full doors, full sized back seat.
DCLB = Sam config as above but 1' extra bed space.

From what I've read, you won't like a car seat in anything but a double cab. There is a few threads on this subject though, so look around.

so they all have a designated door now except for the regular cab? don't I still see suicide doors rolling around? both tike and I are small so leg room is not a priority. can't get away with the access cab? would love the designated door but hate the double cab. too much passenger room, not enough truck.
