And OP, no real need for a SC. Just a fun and cool thing to have.

It is a seasonal rental house, i have 2 other room mates as well, so the housing has nothing to do with it, i was just answering a question.

I did offer to pay for insurance but he said that is not reason enough to do this. lol

My family doesn't care. My mom gives me gripes about it. But as long as I put more into my bank than on the car. She doesn't mind me modding. As for thieves. I work in security. So I got that end covered. Plus if someone does steal something. I probably know who it is. Small island.

Your parents want the best for you,
tell them it will keep you out of trouble by having interested in a mechanical hobby and that it will increase the resale value of your truck.
    :p
In general it would be a valuble experience and a chance to learn something on your own that you have a sincer interest in.
(That is if you plan on installing it your self)

My old man said that the value wont go up because the market for this application is "less than 1%". I said that was a load of bologna.

I absolutely plan on installing this on my own. I am very mechanically inclined... I once built a gas powered pop can crusher from an old briggs engine, a bicycle frame, a pump jack gear box and some well pipe....when i was 13... it was fully functional and had its own feeding system and discharge mechanism. I was impressed with myself at the time lol

Here is some mustard for your father's bologna...
WY would be in a higer percentile of his equation because the state is atmosperically challenged; at its lowest elevation it is still above 3000 ft level and has a mean (average) of 6700 ft.
If you add to the reduced lambda pressure the evironmental disposition to freezing and below freezing temperatures which increases the load to the drive trains energy expenditure (loss) through direct effect of surface snow and ice, and indirectly by errosion to the ground and roads surface.
WY is a perfect location for a Forced Induction application to be benificial.
