Hello this is my first post on this forum. I have a 2012 Tacoma Double Cab with 34000 miles and have decided to do a lift. I drive a ton of miles for work and never do any offroading. My trucks lift is just to make it look bad ass.

After visiting my local offroad shop I am wanting to do the Maxtrac spindle and block set up. The question is 4" or 6"? It is not too much more money to go with the 6". I understand it will cost more for the larger tires but I think it would be the best bang for the buck.

I would really appriciate any opinions, insite, advice, and recommendations. Looking to get this done soon.

PS. I hate the look of BF Goodrich A/T so any tips on a good looking tire that can handle high miles also.

    Thanks,

    Joe

4" is preferred. A 6" lift will require a lot more work to get the rear driveshaft happy with the severe U-joint angles.

Thanks for the welcome. Well going with the 4" I guess 33" is about the biggest but with the 6" 35's would be the tire of choice. I would assume the offroad ship would take care of any driveshaft adjustments during the install and hopefully warranty their work.

Couldve done the 4" spindles with bigger coils/shocks to give you your other 2" and ride. Either way ityll look good!

Just do the 4" spindle lift and either get adj 5100's for front and set on .85 and get the 4" expos for rear and if you plan on running 33's will look good. Then later on if you want a lil more lift you can always do so and keeps your options open.

As far as tires look at the toyo atII's great looking and will come w a treadwear warranty.

[SIZE="3]IF you drive a ton for work. Why did you do this lift on 35's?

Its not going to be fun in that new Taco you have. You have 34k miles on a 2012?

Yes I drive a lot for work. I'll pay for it in gas mileage but i did a 6" because it wasn't much more $ than the 4" and i wanted a more drastic change in appearance. This is just for looks and its going to look badass!

Why do you say it's not going to be fun?

Unless you regear, you're 0-60 time just went from 10 seconds to 10 minutes. The larger tires also cause faster wear and tear on certain parts. If you're putting a ton on mileage on your truck every year, you're maintenance costs should go up as well.

I understand. I might regear but I also never intended my tacoma to be a fast vehicle. I agree it will cost more to maintain. Just the price to pay for how I want it to look. I think it will be worth it! I guess we'll see!

If you stay w a 33 either w a 4" or 6" your gas mileage will be affected a lil but also depends on which tires you go with. If you go w a heavy m/t tire then yes they will affect your gas mileage but you can also find a good at tire that would be alot better for you since you drive alot and won't affect your mileage as bad

I bought the Toyo A/T 2's. Suppossed to be a really good road tire that I can put 50k miles on.
