Anyone use these for their truck bed or roof? They are targeted for ATV and UTV use for rifles and shovels, etc. but seem very versatile. I was a little concerned about the strength of the plastic- but I figured I'd give it a shot. I'm looking at holding a shovel and maybe a pair of skis. They cost $28.

What about quikfists? Probably better for shovel application.

I use those on my ATV to hold a shovel and they work great, although I do use a bungee chord over the shovel just to make sure, that model will be to small for ski's. The larger Kolpins are OK for a gun but they snap at the connections between the rack bracket and the holder, I do not recommend them. Here is a youtube video I made that will show both:

They make some locking gear type ones, click tight and then a button to loosen, dad uses them for a shovel etc on his 4wheeler.

so here's the end result> happy with the fact my skis fit as well as any Thule or Yakima (granted, it's only one pair).
