Just received a quote to replace the sliding rear windows to a single window. They quoted me $800 dollars. Worse of all they offered to take a trade in of my old windows for $50 less. They must be high. Looks like I'm not doing any business with these folks. Serves me right for going on someone else's recommendation. I think I'll go through my contacts to get it done for less. Bah humbug.

Salvage yard? Why do you want a single piece window?

It's a preference. We don't really have salvage yards here.

Was that the dealership? Maybe a window replacement company would be cheaper.

I checked into one a few years back and it was way too much.
Not a fan of the slider.

The problem PJ has is endemic to his physical location. Most everything costs exponentially more there and sadly great finds from the mainland are hampered by exuberant shipping charges. One issue islanders are running into is the monopoly that some have within their industry which many have taken advantage of to fleece those that have no other alternative. There are still businesses there being run by people who cherish their communities and the position they hold within them but it's my understanding that very few of those types are automotive related.

Hope you find a solution that works out costing less and is satisfactory.

It was a window replacement company. The only window replacement company. I could get it for less at the stealership. Just thought about helping local business. Guess it's not gonna happen.

    Hawaii, didn't see that.
    I think for 800 I'd stick w/ the slider.

Shipping isn't as bad as it seems. There are ways around it. It's more the latter where a business has a monopoly on the market.
