It's a truck. What you buy is what you get. Want better mileage, buy a prius.

Duct tape an egg to the accelerator and don't break it.

Gadgets and additives don't do much.
Those that might do something do not do enough to EVER pay for themselves.

The only thing that might help would be an Ultragauge or a Scangauge. Simply tools to help you drive more efficiently.

Bw s256 turbo with 3 in glass pack dumped pre axle raptor liner bed and top rails and fenderflares and rocker panels. Hunter side steps. Plasti-dipped upper fenders and emblems. satin black spray paint here and there inside and out. 5100's set to 1.75" up front . C channel front bumper. Maxxis bighorn 255/85/16
Fill Ur tires with helium instead if air, don't forget to spare. That should net u a weight loss of close to 100 lbs and add to about 1% increase. Get a two speed rearend with 4.11 and 3.23 low in city high in hwy. Don't let Ur truck idle. Get a horse and a carrot and a rope tie him up and put in nuetral.

it is a small truck. it should perform better mpg's. the tecnology is probably available to squeeze more mpg's out of a 4.0 v6. maybe the next gen will.

actually...I wish my Tacoma was a hybrid, or a straight plug-in.

Direct injection would be the next logical step to improve mileage, maybe in 2014 or 15. No hybrids/plug ins for me, can image pulling a TT to Texas and back with either, Even with a hybrid the gas motor would be running all the time and the mileage would be the same. If I were doing the big city commute, stop and go, short distances, warm climate, an hybrid or plug in would be great and if that were the case I wouldn't be driving the PU to work and a easy to park in a small space prius, yadda yadda hybrid would be my choice.

Kiwi.com chek out their mpg monitor . alone it wont save gas however the fact that it gives you real time and avg mpg read outs temp, rpm, scancodes, mph and other stuff for +/- 45 $ is worth a try. Ive been using it a year and ive probably gained 2 mpg from jus changing habits think of it as a driving coach. Plugs rite into your obd 2.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Yeah I was gonna say, ride your motorcycle. I wont be able to get mine out until spring, but my Harley gets great mileage, 57mpg is the best so far. With the truck, just drive it like grandma is all I can say.
