So I was repositioning my truck in the carport the other day, and when I pulled up, I ended up hitting a table I had set up for my tomato and pepper plants. Got out and looked and basically I cracked the little bumper extender that pairs with the fender flares. So my question to the masters of TacomaWorld, go back and repair the bumper, repaint, and get an Avid Light Bar (with RBG for shits and giggles) or go with an All-Pro Apex Bumper with Center Hoop. I don't go off road a lot, so the steel plate bumper is probably overkill... but if I have a tendency to repair/replace with something better. I like the looks of others bumpers, but I don't want to wait 4-6 months to get what I want now. I also can't stand the fact of having damage, as little as it may be, to my toys.

So... tell me how to spend my money.

Its probably not noticeable, considering most guys on here treat there trucks like they were meant to be treated... but I want it fixed. Basically, the repair would be repainting the bumper and replacing and fixing the bumper extender fender flare deal on the passenger side.

Find a used bumper from someone who put a plate or hybrid and replace it. Easy to do and you can buy the little tabs for the fender flares to replace if they broke.

I think you remove those to put an ARB on, so that's what I'd do.

Build time on our 2012 fronts is typically 4 weeks. Just another option

Op, go with a pelfreybilt bumper. Best looking and functional bumpers I've seen for the 2012 and up tacomas. I'm kinda biased since I've seen his stuff first hand and how well built they are.

I voted for the first option, for obvious reasons.

I am leaning more towards the Avid Bars because I like the fact that it offers a little extra protection and allows me to quickly switch back to factory style when the 2016 model with diesel rolls out and I go trade up. Thanks for the help, but I think repairing and the Avid front and rear bars and some of the TrekLight LED Pods from the group buy are my way out.

Parts, repairs, and extras (LEDs and color match grill from Camelback)... I will come in shy of 1000 bucks... which is really all I am wanting to put up. (My blow money from the gov't giving me a little bit of my money back).

    ^ this.

There are loads of folks who upgraded their bumpers to steel, and still have the old stock ones taking up space in their garage. I dented mine badly when I hit a rock out on the trails, so I picked up a spare from a member on here for $100, and swapped out my damaged one in about 20 minutes. Same color so no painting or color matching required. Dig through the build threads and look for members with aftermarket bumpers on their builds, then ask those members if they still have the stock bumper and would be willing to sell. If you can't find one locally find somebody who would be willing to ship via Greyhound -- I spent $60 to ship mine across the country on Greyhound. Just wrapped in bubble wrap, didn't have to box it or anything.
