Instument Panel Light Control on 2013

If you have a 2013 Taco, please check your instrument panel light control. It seems that when I turn on my parking or headlights, the instrument panel dims. The only problem I have with this is that the touch screen dims in the daylight where I cannot read what is on the screen. When it rains, I need to turn on my exterior lights. When I do in the daytime, I cannot see my radio controls. On my old Taco, when you turn the dial to brighten the instrument panel lights, there was a detent that allowed you to keep the panel lights bright all the time. I have the dial set at the brightest setting. That feature seems to be missing or I am missing it.

 

Check the HU...because I think you can adjust the brightness of the screen. It might be under the "setup menu"....can't remember. But I think I came across it once fiddlin' with it.

since you said "touch screen" i have to assume you have entune. if so, there is a button for daytime driving with the lights on to make the radio brighter. its been a while since i have done it. its one of the buttons on the right side of the radio, start pushing them, you'll figure it out. the button only shows up when the lights are on( the button is going to be on the radio screen). which doesn't make any since to me.

 

Setup >>> Display/screen >>>> Day mod on

 

BINGO!!! I went to the dealership today to ask the salesman who sold me the truck. Evidently when I was in the display screen with the "Day Mod On" option, it didnt show with my lights turned on. Now I dont have to turn my lights off when I need to change the radio station.

Turn on Headlights>>>>Setup >>> Display/screen >>>> Day mod on
