    A lot of the "clicking" noise you hear at idle are the injectors opening and closing. The V8 4Runners had very loud injectors as well.

    I have this too. I think it's different than the engine valves. I know that sound as my truck had it from the beginning but I took my truck in for 60k mile service last week and now when I am slowing down and stopping with my foot on the brake I hear a louder more random clicking noise also when I'm driving through a parking lot or creeping into my garage I hear it. Could it be transmission related? It only happens in drive. Possible CV issues? I don't know what it is but it's annoying.
