Did someone say BMW? Here's the 08' M3 I just shipped back after being in Germany for a year. I'm still driving around with the German plates in Alabama which is pretty cool. More pics here: http://picasaweb.google.com/armyav8tor/M3#

4x4 regardless of Sport or Off Road.

Originally I was all about getting the Off Road mostly for the locker, HAC, and DAC. I like the looks of the Sport so I was planning on purchasing a color match grill surround and sport hood. The rear bumper was going to get replaced with something steel. :D I was also planning on putting a 3" lift on it.

Now, I think I'm going to go with the Sport and get a OME suspension with 33s. Eventually I'll regear and when I do that I'll get a locker installed. Not sure about when or how to add the HAC and DAC.

With what I was planning on doing to my future Taco it started not making sense to me to go with the Off Road package.

Get the sport!! My bro and I both have the sport and go everywhere in Moab with no problem!! Just apply the park brake a bit and it will fool the rear end into some what locking the rear. Been up Potato Salad, Moab Rim, Behind the Rock, Hells Revenge, Poison Spider, and many more. We where with friends who had tricked out Jeeps and they did no better than us, we had no PROBLEM at all. The 6" lift helped but the rear end didn't hurt at all.. Good luck to you and either way you'll get a great truck. It's a TACOMA!!!!

have you thought about the 2.7L base model 4x4?....it gets great gas mileage and is only 20k brand new for a 2009 model.....guess it depends on what you will be towing...the 2.7 is very strong for a 4 cylinder so if you are towing a small boat, atv, lawnmowers, or jet skis it would work perfectly.....if you plan on towing bigger heavier things then i guess you would need the v6....but i'm kinda like some of the guys have said...why buy a truck without 4wd?.....i mean you just never know ...you may need it one day...not gonna hurt you by having it just in case

I bought a 09 TRD 4x4 Sport. Great truck and I need it because I spend time in New Jersey (snow and ice) besides Florida. Since you are in S Cal, I would get the TRD Sport 2 wheel drive, unless you want to do the desert doones thing or go up in the mountains in the snow.

Why not include the 4x2 Prerunner SR5 in your poll? Nice option package, still has VSC and auto limited slip, can come with tow package, and is less expensive than the TRD packages.

Since you're into cars, I would recommend the TRD Sport with just the LSD.

I cant stand it when people do this kind of stuff Its the same thing as saying I put 4x4 mud flaps on cause I needed mud flaps

    Heres my baby

    P1010075_f1feee0656574fe47c242308b564c34d527ef9e9.jpg

OP - I also tried searching 4x4 in Socal under 21k and I didnt find anything clean. Similar to you I focused on a towing package for my future toy hauler and found a clean OR for 20k. If you dont need it, not need to buy it

I dig the looks of the sport...If I was into serious hardcore wheeling I dunno if a 31,000 shiny new kinda pudgy and soft Tacoma would be my first choice?

    Sport it up!

It's kinda like a BMW, only different. Regardless, the Corvette and Tacoma make a great team.
