Alignment after LR UCAs....Too much caster?

    Full OME lift 885's with Dakar leaf springs. LR UCA's. ImMrYo relocation bracket.
    My set up is OME 885 with rear dakar springs. Installed the LR UCAs yesterday and had my alignment done today. I have seen that ideal caster is 2.4 and greater. Is my caster excessive? It drives ten times better with the new UCAs compared to stock, any input is appreciated.

    The higher the better is what I heard on caster and from what I can tell and have read thats pretty damn near perfect. The experts will chime in soon.

    This alignment is correcting firestones attempt to adjust the LR UCAs.

    The boner at firestone was using a giant pry bar for some reason and scratched my shocks and UCAs...needless to say I told him to stop and I went elsewhere.

    Anybody have the LR alignment instructions? I couldn't get the idiots at Firestone to understand that they can adjust the ball joint.

    Maybe they are trying to compromise caster for camber with the factory alignment cams , are they aware that they can adjust camber on the UCA ?

    Did you tell them what specs you wanted ?

    Yeah I told them. I said 2.4 on the caster or greater. I didnt specify exact #'s. Good thing is that I have no rubbing issues.

    Caster is not a tire wear issue, it's a handling issue. High caster means you'll track great on the highway but won't want to corner as well. Camber and toe are the ones that will wear your tires unevenly if you don't have them set correctly, caster will not. My opinion, if it drives nice, I wouldn't worry about it.

    Your caster is fine, but you might find you have body mount rubbing issues now depending on the tire size and rim back spacing you are running. Ideally you want to get as much of your caster out of the stock adjustment as you can. Adding positive caster at the bottom moves the tire forward whereas adding caster at the top moves the tire back in the wheel well and closer to the body mount. If you add too much caster at the top with the LRs, not only are you moving it back with the upper adjustment, but then the tech has to take caster out of the bottom to bring you back into spec which further moves the wheel back into the wheel well.

    Basically, if you are not having rubbing issues, then I wouldn't worry about having a little extra caster.
