2006 Need help with parking light bulb

I replaced my turn signal/Parking lamp and now the Parking light feature doesn't work.....my side marker lights come on when I turn on the parking lights...WTF. Am I wrong or are the front turn signal lights also the parking lights...I'm almost positive it was and I see others around town where it is. All I did is replace the lamp

 

Do you have the optional "day time running lights" on your truck?

In 2006 it was an option when you bought the truck.

If you have the DTRL option then the turn signal lights stay on when you release the parking brake. The parking lights only come on when the headlight switch is turned on or parking lights turned on.

So the question is do you have DTRL on your truck?

 

I do not have daytime running lights. Before I replaced the amber lamp, the turn signal lights (I call them my truck fangs) would stay on when I turned on the parking lights. Now, after replacing the lamps, the side marker lights come on when the parking light switch is engaged and the other lights only work for the turn signals.

 

Parking lights only activate your corner marker lights. The turn signals only activate as turn signals unless you have DRLs.

I've disconnected the wiring, loosened the headlight assembly but am a little shy on pulling, turning or otherwise 'forcing' the bulb out, is there a trick I am missing?
