Hi Oz... so what's happening up there? Do you think Utard got it that you need to stop the truck, press and hold in the button for a few seconds for VSC OFF?

I think Crom is on the money... (in your link)

Toyota does not want stories about our 4x4s rolling over like what killed Jeep CJs in the 80's... so VSC will come on only as a fail safe when you are driving in an unsafe manner, to prevent a roll-over.
Some auto tech organization said VSC is the greatest safety device since the seat belt.

I wired in a kill switch for mine and kill it when I am driving around town, but I turn it back on for driving on highways and freeways.

VSC shouldn't be bugging you in city driving...? The only time it activates for me in town is on rainy days when I accelerate from a stop, while making a right turn... The VSC counters the spin out of the back end much the way having the truck in 4WD prevents oversteer and sliding out. I am totally impressed with the technology at work!

It would always get me when I was pulling out into a busy street and would have to punch it to fit into a gap in traffic. I'd spin a tire (don't even have to slide, just spin a tire) and it shuts the throttle off and I start coasting with cars coming at me... Not an ideal situation...

So, heavy pedal, bad tires, or ??? causing the spinning tires...

I can picture what you are saying about the throttle cut being frustrating. It is the heavy throttle that is spinning the tires (which don't move you until they stop spinning more than your forward motion).

What happened with the AUTO LSD mode (no engine regulation for more traction control) or VSC OFF mode (no traction control) with your driving style?

Are there really any advantages to having VSC on below 30mph?

I have a 2005. I have no auto LSD button or VSC Off button... Auto LSD was added in 2009 I think, and the VSC off button was added in 2006...

Heavy pedal into a turn, sanded intersections (all of our roads have sand year round from all the sanding they do in the winter) and 4.88 diff gears are causing it.

I did the 2Lo mod, and just by flipping the switch my VSC off light comes on and I no longer get the throttle shut off, nor do I get the beeping when I start sliding sideways with VSC trying to straighten the truck back out. I do still have Trac so it will start braking a tire if it spins. Couldn't have worked out better really.
