Careful, Bill. You're upsetting a lot of apple carts with all that truthiness.

I'll add that if you do a lot of towing or otherwise put a lot of stress on the AT, a 100,000 mile service interval is probably too long. If someone would check the FSM for an ATF severe service interval, I'd appreciate it.

A friend that owns a transmission shop recommends a 60k mile interval for most everything larger than a small car. I'll probably follow that advice when the time comes, and have his shop do the work. Without using a fluid change machine, there's an awful lot of old fluid left in the torque converter, ATF radiator, lines, etc.

The Transmission fluid doesn't need changed until 100K miles - and that's per Toyota.

Did anyone ask the OP if he has a 2.7 or a 4.0?

The 2.7 still uses T-IV. 4.0 takes the WS which is the 100k rated fluid.

I have a 4.0 and the Canadian maintenance schedule says 96 000kms ( 60 000 miles )

glad i made a thread about this. i found some threads that say 60,000 and others that say 100,000 miles.

i will have to check local prices but it sounds like it's much cheaper than i originally anticipated.

When is the 2.7 to be serviced? I have almost 95,000. I have the 5 speed though

If you have a 5 speed manual, then they don't get service that much. Though I like to change the fluid out as often as I do axle fluid, so about every 60k.

In SoCal, I would recommend Carson Toyota off the 405 near the refinery.

It's a corporate-owned dealer and a sponsor of Tundrasolutions. They've always done me right on parts and warranty service.
Other dealerships have tried to tack on extras as a condition of releasing a vehicle after recall work, hosed me on prices, or... Claremont Toyota left the radiator cap off after changing a warped exhaust manifold.
Glendora Toyota is cheaper than Claremont on parts.

Be warned.... they are busy.
I haven't been there in years, but they used to have a lot jockey bringing coffee and donuts out to people waiting in line for service Saturday morning.

Weekdays aren't bad, worth taking a day off work.

Did you ever take it to Carson?

I'm looking for a shop that's reasonable in the OC as well.

Carson and Glendora are both good.

Stay away from Claremont.

Not with service in OC.

Had some very bad sales experiences with South Coast.
I've heard bad things about Elmore for 30 years.
