    Hi again TW,

Last Friday I felt my truck vibrating pretty bad on the way home from FT Worth. When I was on the access road going about 20mph the truck jerked hard and went bang. I clutched in and went into a parking lot.

My front u joint failed and damaged the flange that holds the u joint to the transmission.

I explained exactly what I needed, over the phone to Jim McNatt Toyota here in Denton, and ordered the (wrong) part. Went to go pick it up today and it is was the transfer case hub. He told me that they didn't sell that piece and I needed to buy a new driveshaft. $854, before tax.

Don't want to pay $900 for a driveshaft.

Does anyone know where I can either find this piece, or find a driveshaft that isn't dealer price in the DFW area?

    Truck is 05 DCSB 6-speed 4x4.

Thanks in advance, and here is a pic of the damage.

That piece just bolts to the Transfer Case Hub. Try a wrecking yard. Any same year probably multiple years ) 4x4 will fit. You do not need the entire drive shaft from what I can see in the picture.

Try greasing the u joint every once in a while...

Holy cow! Luckily that is all that broke. I agree with trying to find a used shaft/component first.

The dreaded drive shaft vibration. Probably no TSB on that. You seem to have lucked out just the flange is fubared.

Any pics of the driveshaft? Looks fine in the pic just need to replace the u joint and the flange on the transfer case end. It's no big deal, I driveline shop for sure would be able to hook you up.

Looking at the picture ( all the rust etc... ) it had to have been raising hell for a while.

OP: You probably also need to replace all of the U-joints while it is down. If that one is washed out that badly can the others be that far behind?
