^OK, but that doesn't change federal law. Just because you had to deal with a dealership that ignores it doesn't make it void. They can choose to not honor it all they want but the fact remains, they're violating the law.

Of course, there IS more than one dealership on earth.

FYI welding sliders or others won't void warranty. Although my dealer said they could require that it is welded by a certified auto body welder (i.e. a body shop probably) to make sure.

I'm still trying to verify that one Joe. Nobody I've been able to get ahold of at TRD has been willing to say, "yes" with any conviction and the service manager where mine was installed says, "BS". It also isn't mentioned anywhere on the paperwork that came with my SC or CAI. As far as running lean, I posted the dyno results from mine before. My AFR runs a consistent 10 through the entire RPM range. That's RICH.

And yes, there is. Cage your truck. Do anything that hints that it's been raced and all bets are off. Period. Voids all coverage for your truck. Your brand new 1-mile-having tires will not be covered if there's a defect. Your insurance won't cover much in an accident either.

As a service manager at a dealership, let me thro in my 2 cents:

If a vehicle comes in that has a mod that has no possible effect on the fault, I don't have any problem with the repair.
If a vehicle comes in, say with an ABS light on, or a CEL, and there is spaghetti wiring on the vehicle, There is a good chance that they repair could be related to increase resistance on the electrical system, etc...
If it is a grey area, and the customer can put the vehicle back into original condition, I have no problem making the repair.
By the way, a dealer does not "void a warranty". A dealer is bound by contract to report any mod that has an effect on factory equipment to the manufacturer. The manufacturer then will flag that vehicle in the system so any delaer who looks at that car will know that any warranty claim will either have to be reviewed by the manufacturer, or the entire warranty is void. (mostly in cases of flood).

A dealer WANTS to make the repairs, it doesn't matter to them who pays, as long as someone does. It's easier for us to have the manufacturer pay if we can.

Well of course, lol. You are the exception not the rule.

One thing I want to mention is, did you ever see Two Roads To The Taupo 1000 (I think it was on HDNet)? They had a fully built race truck and had tranny problems. They brought it into the local dealer and they did the work because it was "technically" still under warranty. I think the trans was stock, though. Now, I hardly think that most dealers would do that but hey, I give credit to the dealer on that one.

I remember when that show was run. Right around the same time as Two Roads to Baja. I kept a running list of everything they broke so I'd have an idea of what spares I'd need.

Cool that the dealer took in the job. Wonder how much the presence of the camera crew influenced the decision?

Even without mods I was out of warranty in 10 months. Mileage limitations are always a killer for me.
