So I decided on getting Blisten 5100 adjustable on the front and 5100's on the back. And was told that the Blisten 5100's have been breaking on the front of Tundra's (I have a Taco not a Tundra) and since then they use/install ProComp Pro-Runner's. They said they are the same thing as the 5100's just a little more heavy duty. And was told the price was a $30 difference more up from the 5100's. Was qouted $925 for the Pro-runners installed including labor. The guy said the procomps come set at 2.5 for the fronts and 2.0 for the back.
After reading a few reviews on here I didn't know if I'll be able to clear 285-75-17's on the truck using the stock rims with either the 5100's or the Pro-runners. What do you guys think???

Only time I've heard of 5100's breaking was on the rear when people were using them with lifts that were too tall for the shock. Otherwise, I believe they have a lifetime warranty and have not heard of people having any issues with them.

I would agree with this, rarely do you hear of a 5100 breaking, i love mine, and so dont alot of other members on this site. I've yet to hear anything good about a pro-comp product... I bet the place you were at was a pro-comp retailer huh?

2.5 can you use stock uca's? And what type rim then for like 275 or 285 duratracs? And what lift in rear to max truck sit level?

yes you can use stock UCA's, I am, you want a rim with 4.5" backspacing, so any 1st gen wheel, TRD Beadlocks, FJ TRD TT wheels, Ivan Stewarts, etc. to make the front, get a 1.5" or 2" AAL.

i think you were doing research on BLISTEN 5100's not BILSTEIN 5100's. You were probably reading about generic wannabe bilstein's. I've never heard of BLISTEN but i know bilstein's 5100's are very durable and capable shocks.

Yeah I spelled Blistein wrong. It was a shop here in Jacksonville, FL that was telling me they break. I still think I'm going with the 5100 reguardless after hearing so many good things about them. I really like/looked at getting BFG MT T/A KM2's. The shop told me I could clear 285's. But was charging $330 a tire craziness!! Might have to do a down grade in the tire. I found them on Amazon for $205 a tire, they said they would put them in but wouldn't be responsible if it wanders all over the road or rubs. I was looking at American Eagle wheels

Wow, you are getting charged a lot. I bought my bilstien 5100s when I had them for $300 brand new from downsouth motorsports.com and bought my 285s for $144 each at Americas tire.

I just finished installing Bilstien's all around and have the front set at 0.85 with Maxtrac spindles and extended shocks in the back... I have to say the ride is amazing! They weren't that difficult to install and they came out to be $400 for all 4 at Toytec.

I would suggest doing it yourself if you have any kind of common sense and their are many threads on here to help you along the way.

Love my Bilsteins as well mine are set to .85 front with rear stock 4 leaf springs. They are a huge improvement ride wise over the stockers. I got mine through Summit racing since the price match. Would have ordered from DownSouth but they were closed for the New Year.

Noob question, what is the reasoning for the 4.5" backspacing?

Also, question for rubbing on the UCAs. I just got the Toytec Ultimate lift and I am planning on leaving stock tires and rims on for a bit until the piggy bank recovers. Will I have this issue with rubbing also or only with 285s on stock rims? Does the fact that I'm swapping out the UCAs with Light Racing UCAs come into play?

So im not much of one that works on my own truck, sad I know...but I think next time I'll put the lift on myself..seemed easy enough. so I'' just say it now. OFFICALLY I'm a dumbass for paying $975 out the door including alignment for the Blistein 5100's all-around.LoL
The back is set at 2.0 and the front is a 2.75. definatly notice the diferance though. The shop that did it wanted to charge me $315 a tire for some Duratac's, good thing Discount Tire has them for $253.

The rear shocks come set at either 1.0 and 2.0 and the were the same price so I figured why not just get the 2.0's
