    *PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT*

If you off road every week, then maybe it is a good idea, but if you're on the road the majority of the time, DO NOT REMOVE YOUR SWAY BAR. I just put mine back on with a relocate kit, and it drives SOOO much better! With it off, my truck would nearly jerk me off the road if I hit a pot hole or a rough spot in the road.

Yeah, it allows better flex, but to me, its not worth the crappy ride. This post is to warn new-comers, who are being told to " just take it off", that I had a horrible experience with my sway bar off.

if you're running stock coils and whatnot, taking the sway bar off is dangerous...

if you're running stiffer lift coils then it should really help with on-road turning as compared with squishy stocks (comparatively without the sway)

    what coils do you have?

there is a reason they come installed in the first place

Same here, 885s, 886s, and now King 700 lb coils, I still don't like it when it's off.. :(
Surely that would damage something by the time your wheeling trip is over.

I will never put mine back on. I'm running ICON extended travel coil overs with remote resi's. I initially left the sway bar on and rode with it for a few months then decided to see what it felt like without it, I'm more than happy with the way it handles on road and highway.

I wouldn't put it past them putting something similar to KDSS in the next gen taco.

I have had my sway bar off on my 1st gen for 4 years or so now...and at first it was with stock suspension. I noticed no difference without it on the road except a little more body roll (then I still had a body lift on the truck). But even with stock suspension It felt fine on the road, and rides much better offroad.

Now with Saw coilovers, even with the sway bar off, it has a very positive feel on the road.

Maybe you just need to learn how to drive?

    :)

They do exist in general. I have not bought one for my Tacoma, but had then for my Jeep ZJ.

A google search returns results for a Tacoma along with a write ups, but they all appear to be for 1st generation. I would expect if enough people asked for them, one of the fabricators here would get on board to design and build them.

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
"better ride" is all in the feel of the individual driver.

they do not exist for 2nd gen tacos. good luck. they way this swaybar is set up, just releasing the ends would leave the ends in the way.

I know there was an individual/vendor throwing around the idea of one that disconnects with the push of a button, not sure if he got around to making one though.

It has nothing to do with " knowing how to drive". I'm not going to argue whether or not to take the sway bar off. I'm just telling my experience with it off. People who have questions can look at all the threads on it, and this one should be looked at also. I'm just putting the information out there. My sway bar will stay on.

OK on sway bar disconnects not an option on current tacos...

I have to separate my brain from my 3rd gen 4runner when thinking about
2nd gen tacos...the old goat 4runner is wicked easy to pop swaybars off and
    leave hanging

Sounds like its an alignment issue to me. Regardless if the bar is on or off, your truck should not jerk/bump steer you off the road!

a quick disconect would be easy.
get pin like this to fit into the taper of the sway bar hole on the spindle
    http://static.speedwaymotors.com/RS/SR/Product/535AK35_R.jpg

drill a hole on the side that sticks out for a cotter pin/quick release clip.
then make a new short link to connect to the sway bar and the pin using a hiem joint or a bushing which ever you choose.
