Brought it upon myself to buy some plastidip for my emblems yesterday and was going to do it today. Just a few questions I have beforehand. How many coats would be best? I was thinking 4-5 but wanted to be sure. Also, how long should I allow to dry in between coats, and how long should I allow to dry before peeling painters tape and newspaper off of the truck. Thanks!

    De-badged and blacked out
4-6 coats, 15 minutes in between coats.
Peel access after 20 minutes, done.

I used 3 to 4 coats assuring i sprayed at all angles.I guess you could put as many as you wouldwant to your liking! wait till its completly dry and remove it all at once(tape and overspray on paint) beacuse when its wet it can make a mess.

Make sure to spray in good lighting, I started mine a little later than I wanted and didn't get good coverage on the side of one of my badges. I'll be re-doing at some point.

I cleaned the badges and area with water and a bit of soap as best as I could and dried.

I did 4-5 coats maybe 8-10min apart. Was in a hurry  Make sure you spray from every angle, I had to redo one side.

I waited about half an hour to peel the overspray.

It has been about a year now, about 5 carwashes and truck being outside all year long including one Canadian winter. No issues, looks like new.

I was thinking about doing this also. Has anyone plasti-derped their chrome bumper? If so, did it chip at all?

Here's what the side of my badge looks like since I couldn't see what I was spraying and didn't do it at all angles. The truck is dirty, but I cleaned the side off. It's not noticeable in traffic, but it sure does bug me since its not how it should be.

I did mine today and the same thing happened on both of my doors. I kept missing the angled part of the "A". The weather is going to get cold so I am not going to have time to redo them. It bugs me but I am going to do them again once the weather warms up. I did good for doing my second dip. My tailgate emblems turned out perfect.

I did 4-5 coats and waited 15 minutes apart. When taking the tape and paper off, take your time.

Yep, same happaned to me too. You really have to make sure to spray a few coats from every angle. I did mine in a dim garage and thought it was all good, but had to touch them up a second time.

Just finished my badges, I think they turned out pretty well. The first one I did is a little rough but the rest turned out good. Not the best pictures but all I had was my phone.
