I have seen some instructions for programming the remote to open all four doors. I will try some searches and see what I find.

I also want to keep the single beep for lock. So I was wondering, in step "D" it says to press the same transmitter button twice. Will it only silence the beep for that button or both lock and unlock regardless of which button is used?

    TIA

I tried this 5 times last night and must be doing something wrong...

    (a) Open the driver side door and insert the key into the ignition cylinder.
    (b) Remove the key from the ignition cylinder and, within 5 seconds, reinsert the key and turn the ignition switch to ON. (DO YOU THEN TAKE THE KEY OUT?)
    (c) After 10 seconds, the system enters answer-back buzzer switching mode.
    (d) Within 10 seconds after answer-back buzzer switching mode is started, if a transmitter button (the same button) is pressed twice, the answer-back buzzer setting changes (off to on, or on to off) to activate or disable answer-back by buzzer.

    HINT:

The driver side door is closed.
The ignition switch is turned off.
The key is removed from the ignition cylinder.
A transmitter button is not pressed for 10 seconds after answer-back switching mode is started.
The transmitter is operated but the second button pressed is different from the first.
    Answer-back starts.

I can confirm that this works for a 2012 as well. Since quite a bit of things have changed on the 12s. Went to the dealer today and he handed me the same instructions on a print out. He re-iterated that if the ECU loses power this must be done again as it will default back to on.

i did the electrical tape over the little box, it cut the "beep beep" sound way down. you can still hear it beep very faintly. 2 min mod, good enough for me.

Take the "box" right out ... tape over the plug ends ... no beeps ...

I tried doing this on my 2011 four times in a row with no success. Even weirder, after I was unsuccessful on the 4th time, I tried to start up my truck and the RPM's went up to about 2/2.5 and then back down to 0. Seems like it reset everything electronically or something? Any insight? I'd like to get rid of the unlocking beeps.

Success on my 2012. No lock or unlock beeps anymore. It would be nice to have kept the single beep when locked, but NO beeps are better than ALL beeps.

Now if I could figure out how to shut up that seat belt chime. The instructions for that one don't seem to have any effect.

That's a dealer function on the 1/2 year for 11 and all 12s. Spoke to the dealer and got them to disable that for me too at no cost! They have to use a Toyota specific scan gauge to change the setting. Some places won't do it at all and some will for a charge. Service tech did tell me that if the battery is replaced or gets to a low voltage state the ECU will reset and default to factory settings meaning another re-program.

I heard that this can cause power window malfunction; has this happened to you yet?

If you dont like the beeps because it draws attention to your ride, then trick it out so when everybody looks at the beeping vehicle they go WOW nice Toyota! :D
I personally like to know the truck is locked as I walk away and do not mind the beeps...
