REAR DIFFERENTIAL FLUID CHANGE

    Change fluid but took over 3 quarts and 8ozs before any of it ran out. It that normal since most have said 3quarts?:eek:

    Perkins Performance Sliders, Warn 9000, Brute Force Fab front & rear bumper, OME/Dakar lift, full ATO skids and hi-lift mount, satoshi, Wet Okoles, illuminated 4x4 switch, Diff Breather.
    I was a few ozs above the stated amount also. Personally, I think if it does not go above the level of the fill plug on a level surface, you are good to go.

    My '09 V6 took almost 4 quarts to come up to the plug. My 07 4cyl took about 3 1/4 quarts. I did them both on the same concrete floor in the same spot too.

    Casting variances maybe?

    No, both trucks have open diff

    Now that I think about it my dad's Tundra took about a half quart extra too.

    As long as you changed the fluid on a level surface and aren't using axle shims or anything like that to alter the axle angle, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

    Level surface and fill until full. I'd say you are good.

    Time to change front and T Case if 4wd. There's another 3 qts.

    Just remember the first time it's changed to have 4 quarts on hand. It's easy to put extra bottles on the shelf for next time, but it sucks to not have enough to fill it up after it's drained out.
